The Fates - Legacy

The Fates are the unseen weavers of destiny, thought to be older than many of the gods who exist now, older than the first spark of mortal thought. In Estaklian myth, they are three veiled sisters—one who spins the thread of life, one who measures its length, and one who severs it when its course is done. To the gods they are untouchable; to mortals they are inevitable. They are the unblinking custodians of what was, what is, and what must be, and their loom stretches beyond mortal comprehension, threaded with every choice and every consequence.   Few dare bargain with the Fates. Those who do are not so much servants as living instruments—hands that can guide, cut, or knot the threads at the sisters’ whispered command. Such warlocks carry a fragment of the loom’s power in their souls, allowing them to twist destiny’s flow in small but decisive ways. Some become agents of cosmic justice, ensuring each life runs its course without interference. Others meddle freely, altering fates for their own gain, heedless of the tangled webs they leave behind.   The Fates care nothing for good or evil, only the fulfillment of their weaving. A champion of the Fates may be dispatched to protect a king so that his heir might bring ruin, or to end a tyrant’s reign so that peace may flourish. To serve them is to abandon the illusion of impartial morality—your work is neither cruel nor kind, but necessary. Such service often leaves a warlock detached, their emotions dulled by the quiet certainty that they have seen the pattern in the thread.   In Estaklian hero-tales, the rare Fatebound are recognized by their distant eyes, as though they are always looking just beyond the present moment. They may mutter cryptic prophecies, speak of events before they happen, or stand idle in moments of urgency—because they already know the outcome. Yet even the Fatebound cannot always see their own end. This, some say, is the Fates’ final mercy.
Restriction: Race
Only Estaklian characters are accepted as pactbound of The Fates. This includes Estaklian Humans, but also any character born and raised in Estaklyos, such as Centaurs, Minotaurs, Satyrs, Harpies, Tritons, and Hamadryads. Your DM may allow other races that happen to have been raised in Estaklyos to make this pact.

When you score a critical hit against a creature with your eldritch blast and deal slashing damage, you may force that creature to make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature's speed is reduced to 0 until the end of your next turn and it ages by 2d10 years.

Threadreader

1st-Level Warlock (The Fates) Feature   You gain proficiency in one of the following skills: Arcana, Insight, or Religion. In addition, you learn the Guidance cantrip, which does not count against your cantrips known.

Inexorable Design

1st-Level Warlock (The Fates) Feature   When you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can roll a d4 and add it to the result. You can do this after seeing the roll but before knowing the outcome. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Warlock Power Reservoir, regaining all uses when you finish a long rest.   The size of this die becomes a d6 when you reach 6th level, a d8 when you reach 10th level, and a d10 when you reach 14th level.

Pact Focus: Eldritch Loom

3rd-Level Warlock (The Fates) Feature   Dedicated to the Fates, you may choose the Eldritch Loom as your pact focus instead of the standard options.   The Loom manifests as a palm-sized spindle or disc of carved bone wound with endless thread. While holding it, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells and you are always under the effects of the Deathwatch spell. In addition, when a creature dies within 30 feet of you, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier.

Tangle the Thread

6th-Level Warlock (The Fates) Feature   When you hit a creature with an attack, you can choose to invoke the muddling aspect of the Fates. The target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC or become Paralyzed until the end of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest, unless you expend a warlock spell slot to use it again.

Weave the Thread

10th-Level Warlock (The Fates) Feature   When you or a creature you can see within 30 feet makes an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can use your reaction to force the roll to be made with your choice of Advantage or Disadvantage as you alter the flow of their destiny. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Warlock Power Reservoir, regaining all uses when you finish a long rest.

Snip the Thread

14th-Level Warlock (The Fates) Feature   Once per long rest, you can draw a creature's thread of fate, seeking to sever it and their connection to the mortal coil. As an action, choose a creature you can see within 60 feet. The target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature drops to 0 hit points; on a successful save, it takes 10d10 necrotic damage. A creature reduced to 0 hit points by this effect dies instantly, its life-thread cut by unseen hands. This effect has no impact on Undead or Constructs. If a creature has more than 100 hit points, it automatically succeeds on this saving throw. When you reach 17th level, this increases to 200 hit points.
