The Laws of the Last Loom
Purpose
The Laws of the Last Loom are a sacred, metaphysical charter that enables the Thalrani to set aside all local allegiances and unite under one spiritual, cultural, and military authority —The Concord of Threaded Vow —in times of global existential threat to their people or heritage.
Document Structure
Clauses
- Thread of Binding – All signatories agree to surrender personal power to the Concord upon invocation.
- Spindle of Silence – Until activated, no agent may disclose the Law’s location or status.
- Loom of Severance – Once invoked, existing allegiances are ritually nullified for the term of activation.
- Skein of Return – No action taken by the Concord may be used to establish permanent Thalrani governance.
- Threadsend Clause – All decisions must be tied to a memory ritual honoring the past before moving forward.
Caveats
- May only be activated by a unanimous vote of seven Thalrani sanctuaries
- The ritual known as the Sevenfold Vow must be completed under celestial convergence
- Activation immediately binds all Sashweave-bearers above Looming age, regardless of personal will
- Its effects end only by collective ritual unraveling and the sealing of the current Threadhold
References
- The Woven Accord (predecessor document from Myriath)
- The Loomed Testament (Vaeyra’s final weavebook)
- The Spiral Cipher (access code required for invocation)
- Memory glyphs embedded in shrines across diaspora sanctuaries
Publication Status
Partially published. The core text is known to diaspora memorykeepers. Still, specific invocation glyphs, ritual paths, and clauses are kept in woven secrecy, readable only with special Sashweave access and Concord Cipher rings.
Legal status
Recognized as metaphysical law by all Thalrani enclaves and due to ancient treaties by at least 11 nations across Elaris. In many cases, it holds higher precedence than secular contracts, treaties, or borders.
Historical Details
Background
Written in the immediate trauma of Myriath's collapse, the Laws were born from grief and necessity. The diaspora realized that without a binding force, their people would scatter irreparably and be lost to history. The document was sewn in silence, read aloud only once, then divided into fragments stored in sacred Loomvaults.
History
It has only been invoked once, during The Severance War (268–271 DV). Its activation reshaped the political landscape of Elaris, forcing monarchies, mage-states, and even religious orders to contend with the sudden emergence of a transnational Thalrani government.
Public Reaction
Among Thalrani, mixed reverence and fear. Some view the Laws as a sacred salvation; others see them as a dangerous authoritarian relic. Among outsiders: deep suspicion, especially after The Severance War revealed how suddenly the Laws could override national borders.
Legacy
The Laws of the Last Loom continue to shape diaspora identity. They are taught as legend, feared as prophecy, and embedded into ritual and festival, even in peace. Their influence reaches into art, law, and the structure of Sashweave itself.
When the world frays, we do not flee. We bind.
