APPEARANCE/PHENOTYPE
---
The Luminous Lotus is an aquatic perennial with floating leaves and large emergent flowers. Its leaves are circular, reaching diameters of 25–40 cm, with smooth, water-repellent surfaces. The flowers rise above the water on thick stalks up to 1 meter tall. Each blossom is composed of 20–30 broad petals arranged concentrically, shifting from pale pink or white at the base to deeper hues at the tips. The plant anchors itself in lakebeds or pond sediment through rhizomatous roots, which spread horizontally. Its blossoms open at dusk and remain visible into the night, adapted to maximize pollination during cooler hours. The luminous appearance is a visual effect of petal translucence combined with reflection from moonlight and water.
