APPEARANCE/PHENOTYPE
Giogal Gorm is a perennial reed distinguished by its upright, cylindrical stems that can reach a striking azure-purple hue at the tips during blooming. Its leaves are long, flat, and blade-like, sheathing the lower portion of the stalk. The inflorescence forms a dense, brush-like plume of deep violet that sways with the slightest air movement.   Typically found along freshwater margins, the reed thrives in nutrient-rich, saturated soils. Its hollow stems allow buoyancy in partially submerged conditions, while the vivid plume functions both as a reproductive structure and a visual attractor for pollinators. The plant grows in dense colonies, forming natural barriers against erosion in aquatic environments.
