APPEARANCE/PHENOTYPE
Darach na Spéire, or Skyward Oak, is a large deciduous tree that typically reaches heights of 18–25 meters, with trunk diameters averaging 0.8–1.5 meters. Its bark is deeply fissured, ranging in color from gray-brown to nearly black, and branches extend outward before arching skyward. The foliage consists of broad, lobed leaves 8–15 cm in length, providing dense seasonal canopy cover.   Adapted for high elevations, the Skyward Oak develops a robust anchoring root system capable of withstanding strong winds. It thrives in rocky soils with minimal organic matter, drawing moisture efficiently from limited sources. The tree’s vertical branch growth maximizes sunlight absorption, ensuring survival in exposed environments with high radiation and fluctuating temperatures.
