Curfew
After dealing with the pursesnatchers, the party went back on patrol to enforce the curfew. They found three young teenagers playing with marbles in the alleyway. When they asked the kids for their IDs, they found out that they were the triplet sons of Viscount Derek ir'Thorn. While two of the teens, Brian and Hubert, were fairly compliant, Damian had a terrible attitude and seemed to think the soldiers would get in trouble for arresting a nobleman's children. As the soldiers were dealing with the situation, sirens began ringing, indicating an attack at the city gates. Following protocol, the party called for a supervisor to take custody of the kids. Lt. Darko Volin stayed with them as the soldiers went outside the gates to fight the rampaging monstersAfter dispatching the monsters threatening Dol Arrah Gate, the party returned to Lt. Volin to find he had put Damian in handcuffs and a Hold Person spell to restrain him. Volin healed the wounded and ordered the party to take the kids to the garrison. Cpt. Dunsmith let the kids go with a warning that they would be flogged like anyone else if they were caught outside during curfew again. The party escorted the teens back to their father's mansion.
Viscount ir'Thorn was incensed by his sons' behavior and yelled profanities at them as he ordered them to their rooms. He confronted his gate guards, who swore that the kids did not leave the mansion through the gate. The viscount did not care for their answer and fired them on the spot.
Daytime
The party was woken up by military police for a search of their housing unit. The squad leader singled out Zigz to be personally searched, explaining Col. Dubnov had ordered all soldiers with felony records to be searched. The military police tossed all rooms and left, having found no evidence of criminal activity. The party spent an hour cleaning up the mess.Evening
During their evening patrol shift, the party saw smoke coming from The Obnoxious Chair. They arrived there to find it on fire, a fire elemental creature wreaking havoc inside. They fought the fire monster with the help of Peter Pröll, the wild sorcerer they had encountered a few days earlier. The fire wardens arrived a few minutes after the party and finished extinguishing the fire and evacuating the bar. The party quickly understood that the fire was caused by one of Peter's wild magic surges. Despite the tavern owner Shawn Fergus' demands that Peter be arrested for arson, the party argued that there was no evidence he willingly set the fire and chose to let him go. During his conversation with the soldiers, another wild magic surge de-aged Peter by seven years, giving him the appearance of a 13 year-old boy. Nyx told Peter about his father Dev's work training Gregor ir'Zorik to control his own wild magic and recommended seeking him out. Peter agreed and went home.Nymm 11th
Curfew
The curfew went by uneventfully.Daytime
Charli's Angels were once again woken up by knocks at their door. This time, a lieutenant was there to bring them to the day shift captain Aron ir'Novak, who had summoned them. The captain told the party that Shawn Fergus had filed a formal complaint against them for refusing to arrest the arsonist who burned down his tavern. The party argued that there was no evidence that Peter had set the fire, only hearsay from drunken patrons. Captain ir'Novak seemed to agree that the case against Peter was thin, but said that it was not their role to judge the case, and ordered them to find Peter and bring him in. Knowing that the colonel would most likely have Peter executed on the spot if he was caught, the party went to his house and warned him to get out of town as quickly as possible and to take advantage of his de-aging to get a new identity. Peter's mother renamed him Austin and said she would leave for Falko with him to seek Dev's tutelage. The party spent a few hours pretending to look for Peter all around time and told Captain ir'Novak that he could not be found.Duke Kirill ir'Kovacs came back from his audience with the King and Kingsguard operatives were seen milling around the castle.
Evening
The party was allowed the evening off as compensation for the time spent looking for Peter.Nymm 12th (Brightblade)
Curfew
The party reported for duty at midnight as ordered. Res was summoned to the castle to speak with Major Cannith, while the rest of the party checked out the pursesnatchers' hovel to follow up on Aksel's tip, only to find it trashed, as if someone had tossed it looking for something. The rest of the night went by uneventfully. When the party returned to their housing unit, they found Res' personal effects cleared out.Daytime
The party participated in several festival activities during Brightblade. Matias won The Eggsecutioner's traditional blueberry pie contest, winning a magical bag of spices. Charli triumphed in the cabbage chopping contest and won a returning cleaver. Zigz won a heavy pistol for his victory in the shooting contest. Nyx attempted the biathlon but finished in second place. Charli and Zigz won public duels and won magical cloaks. The party attempted the Brightblade Relay Race, but came in second to Patriot and Jacob's team, who won a week's leave.Evening
During the evening briefing, Captain Dunsmith warned the troops not to get in the Kingsguard's way during their investigation into the Emerald Claw, and to obey any and all orders from them, reminding them that the Kingsguard answer only to the King and operate entirely independently from the Army. The party was assigned to work security at a fighting pit in Dol Arrah, healing up the fighters after their bouts and catching a cutpurse. Charli refused to entertain the idea of letting the fights go on past curfew time and was shocked to discover everyone found her boring. A few minutes before the end of festivities, a manhole cover exploded in a green blast and Emerald Claw cultists came out of the sewers to attack the crowd. The party fought the cultists, knocking some of them out. A Kingsguard operative, Sentinel Kraken, arrived on scene and finished off the last cultists. He ordered the party to follow him down into the sewers to find where the cultists came from. As Charli took out her backup stone to ask a supervisor to take the unconscious cultists into custody, Kraken stopped her and shot the cultists in the head, killing them all instantly. The party followed the Kingsguard down into the sewer and began exploring. Armored undead soldiers armed with guns confronted the party. The party and Kraken fought through the sewers trying to find the source of the cultists and undead. They found a magical barrier and deactivated it by destroying pulsating crystals. The passage led to the basement of Viscount Derek ir'Thorn's mansion, where they found his teenage sons playing with a Bloodfang Dagger, roleplaying cultists. Questioned by the soldiers, the children swear that the basement is abandoned and unused, and that they do not follow the Blood of Vol religion. The soldiers brought the children up to the mansion, where Kraken promptly placed the viscount and his staff under arrest on suspicion of Emerald Claw affiliation. The viscount said his family had abandoned the Blood of Vol as soon as the King forbade its practice and sealed the basement chambers since, and berates his sons for going to play there behind his back. Sentinel Kraken called for Kingsguard backup to process the mansion and ordered the party to take the children to the orphanage.
The party fought off a few cultist stragglers in Teryk's streets on the way to the orphanage, but the fighting in the the city had mostly died down by that time. Charli and Nyx tried to comfort the ir'Thorn children to little avail. They eventually reached the orphanage, where the custodian let the kids inside, and the party reported back to the garrison.
A total of 34 Teryk citizens were killed in the
