Orcus (Ore-ces)

The Blood God

Lord of Skulls and the Demon Prince of Death

Orcus, also called the "Blood God," the "Lord of Skulls," and the "Demon Prince of Death", is a bestial creature of corruption with a diseased, decaying look. He has the lower torso of a goat, and a humanoid upper body with a corpulent belly swollen with rot. Great bat wings sprout from his shoulders, and his head is like the skull of a goat, the flesh nearly rotted from it. His portfolio of interest covers the most basic and brutal of sentient emotions and actions, such as hate, anger, rage, the desire for destruction and the joy of killing one's enemies.

History

Like anyone else in the Gehenna the Seven Circles of Hell, Orcus started his existence as a mortal on the Material Realm. He back then, according to legend, was a barbaric Orge that fought on the Orge Isles in service of most likely his own gluttonous greed. After his death, his soul, like the souls of all mortals, was condemned. His soul traveled the River of Souls and was led to the Gehenna where Orcus began his afterlife as a lowly larva.

Orcus proceeded to climb through the demonic ranks over the next several years, going from larva to mane, from mane to dretch, from dretch to rutterkin, from rutterkin to vrock, from vrock to glabrezu, from glabrezu to nalfeshnee, and eventually a balor. From there, he ascended to the rank of demon lord, becoming the Prince of the Undead and ruling the layer of Wrathia, the Eternal Battlefield. Even though there are other demon lords aspiring to the title of Demon Lord, Orcus' claim to the title went unchallenged for the most part. Ever hungry for more power, Orcus now wants to be recognized as "Prince of Demons".

Divine Domains

Every act of killing or murder in the material universe feeds and empowers Orcus; the more senseless and destructive, the better. Orcus thereby rewards those who spread death in his name by granting them a small portion of his power. The least of these become ghouls and imps whilst other become grander undead or fiendish beings who serve in his legions, while his favored servants are the cultists and necromancers who murder the living and then manipulate the dead, emulating their dread master. If Orcus is served and worshiped sufficiently enough, he will reward his followers with the closer positions to him in the pits of his "Eternal Battlefield". This "Eternal Battlefield", he refers to, is Wrathia the First Circle of the Seven Hells.
