Adamiel Bartholemæus Tamariel von Hinan Tenarius II

Son of Tenarius

Arch-Paladin Adamiel Bartholemæus Tamariel von Hinan Tenarius the II (a.k.a. , Hero of Moonshore)

Each day, I feel the gnawing emptiness growing within me, a void that neither riches nor the thrill of the arena can fill. I am Adamiel Bartholemæus Tamariel von Hinan Tenarius II, a name that carries weight and expectations, a name that I did not choose, yet bear the burden of. I don the garb of the Black Knight, a character I created, one that exists to challenge the boundaries my birth has bound me within. I am a man of two faces – one, the cheerful son of a wealthy trader, and the other, a ruthless fighter that surfaces in the darkness of the night. But who am I, truly?   I am losing myself in this dichotomy. Each day, my apathy grows. I find myself questioning, challenging, doubting the very essence of my existence. My father's intellectual prowess looms over me like an insurmountable mountain, casting me in its vast shadow. I was groomed to be a paladin of Waukeen, to lead and protect, yet I wonder if it is the life I desire. I fight, not for honor or duty, but to feel alive, to quench the thirst of my growing indifference. The scars I bear from wielding Minroth are not merely physical, but they are etched deep within my soul.   I am increasingly torn between the comfortable life I am destined to live and the path I wish to choose. How can I be the perfect son and a fierce warrior at the same time? How can I reconcile the man I am expected to be with the man I wish to become? I am stuck at the crossroads, burdened by the weight of my legacy, haunted by the dreams of what I could be. Yet, beneath the apathy, there's a simmering discontent, a will to break free. But the question remains, how much am I willing to risk to find my own identity? And at what cost? Time is ticking, and I am yet to find my answers.
Adamiel Bartholemæus Tamariel von Hinan Tenarius II on himself
Adamiel Bartholemæus Tamariel von Hinan Tenarius II, an impeccably handsome now middle aged man with blond hair, known for his grace both in the battlefield and in the city. Draped in light, loose shirts and practical trousers when not armored, his armor sparkles in hues of white and gold, topped with liturgical garments. His father's shadow looms over him, a man of intellect, control, and esteemed reputation in the finer circles. Yet, in the face of this familial legacy, Adamiel Jr. is an individual defined by his affinity for the practical. A man of the people, a lover of sport, and a fighter in the shadows, he secretly steps into the arena as the Black Knight, his armor cloaked in obsidian darkness. His life is a juxtaposition of privilege, secrecy, and yearning for a purpose greater than his birthright.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Adamiel was born in 364 I.E., marking his birth date as 14 Dreamer's Walk. Known for his courage and indomitable spirit, he had a strong desire for adventure that led him to Moonshore in 383 I.E., where he was infamously known as the Black Knight. In the coliseums of Moonshore, he fought not just for glory but for the very survival of the city.
His involvement in the war against Amanar was one of his most significant life events. He didn't stand alone in this battle, though. Adamiel fought alongside a group of unconventional heroes, each one a rowdy individual with a unique story and skillset. During this tumultuous period, they faced numerous challenges, including an onslaught of terrifying creatures and a confrontation with the ominous Minroth. Despite the high stakes and the mounting pressure, Adamiel and his fellow heroes triumphed, saving Moonshore from imminent disaster. However, in the aftermath of the war, Moonshore tragically fell.
Following this victory and the events of Moonshore, Adamiel channeled his experiences and hard-won wisdom into establishing his own adventuring academy. There, he sought to pass on his knowledge to the next generation of heroes, giving them the tools they would need to confront the dangers of their world. By the year 408 I.E., he has already spent a significant part of his life dedicated to this mission, helping guide countless students on their paths to becoming adventurers.
Adamiel's personal life was significantly impacted when he met and fell in love with a woman named Quori from the small continent of Nevitash. She belonged to the Nevians, a unique group of people of human ancestry known as the Quori who are characterized by their natural magical attuneness. Unlike most of humanity in Eastrix, the Quori people maintained their inherent connection to the Primordial Powers, displaying magical prowess on par with the Yorin race.
This encounter had a profound impact on Adamiel. His relationship with Quori not only brought him personal happiness but also exposed him to the systemic discrimination faced by the Quori. Outraged by the widespread prejudice, Adamiel became a vocal advocate for the Quori people. Leveraging his influence and reputation, he publicly defended the Quori, confronting the bigotry they faced head-on.
Adamiel's outspoken stance, however, was more than just a public display. His intimate relationship with Quori gave him a deeply personal stake in the fight against discrimination. Together, they worked towards building a world where the Quori people and all races could live in peace and mutual respect, free from bias and prejudice.

Failures & Embarrassments

Entanglement in Moonshore: Even though he emerged as a hero, Adamiel viewed his initial entanglement in Moonshore as a failure. He had intended to battle in the colosseums and got drawn into the war against his initial plan.   Struggles with Insecurity: Adamiel often battled with self-doubt and insecurity. Despite his accomplishments, he held himself to a high standard and considered any deviation from this as a failure.   Challenges in Establishing the Academy: Founding his own academy was not an easy task. Adamiel faced numerous challenges and setbacks, leading him to view certain aspects of this endeavor as a failure, despite its ultimate success.   Personal Struggles with Discrimination: Adamiel's love for Quori exposed him to the harsh realities of discrimination. His inability to single-handedly change societal attitudes towards the Quori people has been a source of frustration and disappointment for him.   Missteps in the Battle of Moonshore: There may have been tactical or strategic missteps in the war that Adamiel regrets. As a leader, he likely felt responsible for any losses or damage suffered by his side, despite the eventual victory.

Mental Trauma

Adamiel has faced a significant amount of mental trauma throughout his life, from his entanglement in the events of Moonshore to his struggle with insecurities. His experience in the war against Amanar was traumatic, filled with violent battles and personal loss, causing him to bear the emotional scars of warfare. The discrimination against Quori people, especially the discrimination faced by his wife, also added to his emotional burdens. These experiences have led to bouts of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. However, Adamiel is a resilient man, consistently finding strength to persevere through his trials and tribulations.

Morality & Philosophy

Adamiel's alignment with the tenets of Waukeen shapes his ethical and philosophical outlook. As a lawful good character, he values fairness, honor, respect for life, and a reliable order to society. Here's how he applies the tenets of Waukeen:   Supply: Adamiel believes in the importance of securing the future and the role of economy in enriching the world. He advocates for responsible resource management and strives to ensure prosperity for all, often viewing his adventuring and heroics as ways to stabilize society and keep the economic wheel turning.   Demand: Adamiel interprets this tenet as a call to create value and drive progress. He understands that the desire for better living standards and a better world is a powerful motivator for growth and development. This might be why he chose to establish an adventuring academy—to cultivate skills and provide valuable services to society.   Production: Adamiel upholds the principle of safeguarding the means of production and reproduction. He sees the symbiosis between humans and companies as essential to societal advancement. His advocacy for the Quori people, whose magic could be seen as a unique "means of production," ties into this tenet.   However, Adamiel's moral struggles often revolve around the balance between the individual and the greater good. He is willing to sacrifice his own comfort and security for the well-being of others. Despite his personal traumas and battles with insecurity, he never wavers from his commitment to uphold his principles and fight for justice. His philosophy and moral code, influenced by his devotion to Waukeen, drive him to create a world that is prosperous, fair, and just.

Adamiel, given his extensive travels, encounters, and connections, has developed proficiency in multiple languages. Here are the languages Adamiel is known to speak:   Dwardekar: Also known as the language of the Dwarves, it is a complex and intricate language, rich in vocabulary related to the essence of Dwarven existence. It contains guttural and resonant sounds with its own writing system of Dwarven Runes. Given his affinity for the Dwarves and their culture, Adamiel would have learned Dwardekar to deepen his bond with them and to appreciate their culture at a granular level.   Celestial: This divine language is spoken by celestial beings such as gods and angels. As a man devoted to the tenets of Waukeen, Adamiel likely learned Celestial to enhance his spiritual connection and gain a deeper understanding of divine teachings.   Common: This is the lingua franca of Eastrix, spoken and understood to varying degrees by individuals of different races and cultures. Given its ubiquity and versatility, Adamiel would use this language for most of his interactions, particularly when dealing with individuals of mixed or unknown linguistic backgrounds.   Aracne Elvish: Known for its complexity and elegance, Elvish is the language of the Elves devoted to the Arcane and is often used in scholarly work. As the founder of an adventuring academy and a scholar in his own right, Adamiel would have learned Elvish to access the extensive body of knowledge recorded in this language and to communicate effectively with Elven scholars and students.   Quori: This would be the language of his wife, Quori, and her people. Adamiel likely learned Quori to better communicate with his wife and to stand in solidarity with the Quori people, who face widespread discrimination. This would also be a testament to his belief in the importance of understanding and appreciating diverse cultures.   His linguistic abilities reflect Adamiel's multicultural experiences and his commitment to bridge cultural divides. He values clear communication and understanding, which not only bolsters his interpersonal relationships but also makes him an effective leader and educator.
