Waterfort
Waterfort is one of many forts originally created as a beachhead against the undead. Is was created on a cliff side which works as natural fortification. The the fort grew more and more houses were carved into the cliff side and when no more cliff was available people began constructing increasingly large balconies and support beams. This eventually created a tiered town with very steep ascends and houses build on top of houses.
While the town has certainly outgrown its original fortification it still remains almost impossible to profitably invade and clear out the pirates that call this town their home. The sheer scale of the town and general attitude of the townsfolk against any kind of authority that originates from the outside means that any invader would likely need to fight the whole town to get even just one crew of pirates as soon as they dock in the harbor.
