Rebellion of the Privateers

Criminal Activity

2631AoC

Although the Holy Order of Druids had spent a lot of money to keep the privateers, given that they could not themselves directly stop new settlements due to their treaty with the gods.   Despite this payment, it did not take long for some privateers to switch sides with the adventurers as they began seeing the possibility of more money from the loot they found. With another big discovery in 453 AoW, the last few privateers switched sides, leaving it all but impossible for the druids to control the trade.

When the discovery of a collection of adamantine plate armors happened in 453 AoW the last privateers finally shifted sides to the adventurers. This shift was quickly followed by the building and subsequent fortification of Waterfort. The building of the town was facilitated by the now open trade routes and the privateers expecting retaliation from the Holy Order of Druids built impressive fortifications in case of an attack.   When the druids learned of the betrayal they had little choice but to accept the new situation. The treaty forbade them from directly attacking Waterfort and the mercenaries they could buy would not be enough to invade the city after the fortification.
