Critinal
Critinal is one of the largest kingdoms in all of Dwaistar, holding nearly a fifth of the territory on the continent. Critinal also is the name of the grand keep that houses the brave king of Critinal. The territory itself is too large to be properly managed by one settlement, so it is divided into four counties, Baranek, Vasign, Xessod, and Acreheight. Each county is overseen by a Count, but technically owe allegiance to Critinal.
Founded after the time of the 500 Year War, Critinal has held its place as one of the major continental powers since. As one of the strongest Human settlements, no wise ruler would ever threaten this kingdom, lest they be destroyed with deadly prejudice.
Government
The territory of Critinal is ruled by king Gelimer Thorhild, with some involvement from the Counsel of Daaself. Though in recent times, Critinal has been attempting to become more independent from outside influences. Though there is a strong friendship between the royal families of Critinal and Shatterhelm, so the Dwarves are filled in on current affairs.
Defences
Critinal Keep is built atop a large hill in the Fields of Felsword not but sixty miles north from Phandine Peak. High walls surround the perimeter of the settlement as well as a second wall around the courtyard of the keep itself. Five towers overlook the fields and are the perfect archer's post. The guards in Critinal know how vital it is to keep this castle safe, and are fiercely loyal to their king. So elite are these guards, that even the lowest in rank will be sent to train new recruits in the four counties.
Points of interest
Cobblemill Library - One of the largest libraries on the content, the Cobblemill Library is one of the best-known wells of knowledge in all of Critinal. Its four-pointed structure makes it instantly recognizable, as its high central tower pierces the sky.
Architecture
The house of the king of Critinal is not of poor design. In fact, it is rather ornate in decoration. The interior of Critinal Keep is some of the finest human-craft one will ever see. Even the housing of the king's servants and guards could be considered fit for nobility.
