Xessod

Xessod is the southernmost of the four counties of Critinal. The central part of the city is the closest in distance to the capital, Critinal Keep. While most of the territory lies inland, Xessod is can be very easily considered a sea-fairing group. They hold a considerable amount of land in the islands off the coast of Dwaistar and also provide a large sum of sea food for trade.   The culture here is rich and has aged like the finest of elvish wines. The people are quite fond of fantastical tales of sword and sorcery. Naturally, any adventurer to pass through this area will quickly become the talk of the town during and long after they have left. Elderly seafarers and young ship hands alike will gather around tables in inns just to hear another story about a legendary sea monster. A streetwise rogue could easily pry information from anyone if they can just keep them talking. Though be wary to any adventurer who can't hold their liquor, the innkeepers are notoriously intolerant of drunkards and won't hesitate to toss someone through a door.

Government

The Count of Xessod is the one who manages the town under the indirect rule of the king of Critinal. However, the current count is not one for sitting in an office for days on end, rather, he can often be found in a hut he had constructed near a cove, or simply wandering the town enjoying the company of drunken sailors.

Defences

Xessod is one of the most easily defensible counties of Critinal. To the North, it has the immense Phandine Peak and Critinal Keep behind it. To the South, a massive ocean rarely conquered. And to its flanks, the counties of Acreheight and Vasign to defend it.

History

In 780 of the Era of Resolution, Xessod was established as one of the four counties of Critinal.

Architecture

The buildings here are built sturdy and solid to hold fast against harsh sea storms. Thick walls and thicker roofs are a staple of the city's design to keep warm through the year. Log corners with whitewashed walls are the most common design among this county, but simple wooden homes are just as common.
