Prostian Revolution
The Prostian Revolution was an uprising and resulting civil war in Campeni, fought between the Prostian United Front and forces loyal to the Campeni monarchy.
In Campeni following the Red Week, an economic crash led to a spike in unemployment in the cities. At the same time, 1334 and 1335 both saw significant harvest losses due to blight, leaving many rural peasants and farmers in a precarious situation. When it was discovered that the monarchy was hoarding grain for themselves, strikes broke out across the northwest of Campeni. The army was sent in to break the strike, but they were outnumbered nearly 12-1, and the strikers proved victorious.
Communists and libertarians from around the country flooded the northwest, and the Prostian United Front was born. While the Prostians had high morale and numbers, they were fighting using old hunting rifles and moving equipment and troops on horse-drawn carts. To add to the problem, Kaisa sent an expeditionary force to aid Campeni, and the Prostians were forced into hiding in the countryside. The United Front spent several years in hiding, fighting a guerilla war against the monarchist forces.
In 1340 CE, The newly-formed Imperial Jiderani Union saw an opportunity to destabilize an old enemy and set themselves up for annexation. The IJU began providing equipment and training to the Prostians in secret. With assistance from the IJU, experienced revolutionaries from the failed Kaisan revolution, and the beginning of the Last War forcing Kaisa out of the conflict, the Prostian United Front managed to push the monarchist forces past the Kandto River, where an armistice was signed, splitting the country. Since then, the Prostians and Campeni have been preparing themselves for a final confrontation.
