Duurn

Duurn is the home of humanity, its name meaning "home" in the language of the Liasnyks. It consists of six continents: Eaorma, Jideran, Ridbha, Teshoya, Umbrak, and Vieluesse, as well as the archipelagos of Farkellia and Tteokseo-Akmyeon.   The world of Duurn exists within the Stereoma, a region of stable reality within the Astatoma, a realm of creative chaos that exists in a state of constant flux. It is protected from this chaos by the Veil, a mysterious force that permeates across the entirety of Duurn. Where it is weak, physical reality distorts and unravels, and entities of the Astatoma slip through the cracks. These entities, the insatiable Veil-Born and the alien celestial gods present an existential threat to life in Duurn. Those who survived the horrors that drove humanity from Ridbha may be long dead, but the scars linger on the living. Terrifyingly, many scholars believe that the Veil is showing signs of unraveling that have accelerated in recent years.   Within Duurn, a period of change is sweeping the world. For more than a millenia, Khahlanong Hlusa Mfa, the state ruled by the benevolent god-despot Tshakuksuha, was the undisputed hegemon of the international sphere. This status quo began to erode during the Age of Idealism, when new political ideas and mass movements began to spread across Duurn. In 1332, the illusion of stability was shattered when Tshakuksuha was assassinated. Their death was followed by a worldwide political and economic collapse, called the Red Week. Radicals and echelarists each offered alternatives to the stagnancy of the liberal order, and revolution was in the air. As the new world struggled to be born, the nation-states of Duurn rushed to fill the power vacuum left by the collapsing Khahlanong, sparking the Last War.   Now, in the aftermath of war and devastation wrought across the inhabited continents, the people of Duurn are beginning to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. Humanity looks for a path forward. Philosophical movements like transcendentalism offer a world beyond the ruins. Communists, libertarians, and other radicals create alternative models of society. echelarism continues to spread like a cancer across Duurn, germinating in myths of former glories and "rightful" destinies. Humanity stands on the edge of a knife, and at the edges of the Stereoma, powerful and enigmatic entities bide their time.
