1349 Kaisan General Strike

The 1349 Kaisan General Strike was a national labor action in the Republic of Kaisa that shut down work across almost every industry nation-wide. Widespread strikes began in fall of 1349 but picked up steam in the Month of Whispers, following the Kaisan Army Mutiny. In particular, the demands of the strikers were to end the war as quickly as possible, before the IJU occupied more of the country. However, the strikes have begun to take on a more aggressive characteristic, and now many are demanding the abdication of the Symvouli Tiporé in its entirety.   The SEK-ESK has spearheaded the strike, though it began organically before the federation made the official decision to support it. Nevertheless, with the backing and resources of the SEK-ESK, the general strike has completely shut down the Kaisan economy. Unlike other major strikes, as the action progresses, striking workers have begun to seize their workplaces, continuing the production particularly of necessary goods. This process is part of the collectivization that is sweeping through the regions impacted by the Daffodil Revolution. Some within the SEK-ESK fear that this could hasten armed conflict with the state, but most support it as a natural progression of the revolutionary moment.
