Branch Purpose: Hunt the Rift’s threats early—track, confirm, and end them before they become a war.
  Branch Authority Notes: Hexers can establish temporary exclusion zones, redirect patrols to pursue confirmed trails, and requisition local guides/provisions under writ. They do not overrule containment vetoes.
  Mandate: Detect Rift threats before they mature and destroy them while they are still small enough to end.
  Operating Style: Hexers live on the road and in the wild margins—patrol circuits, long watches, and quiet infiltration into bad ground. They prioritize evidence, speed, and clean exits: find the trail, confirm the target, cut it out, and leave a map behind for the next team.
  Jurisdiction & Authority: Hexers can establish temporary exclusion zones, requisition local guides and provisions under writ, and override routine patrol orders to pursue confirmed Rift trails. Their authority ends when containment risk triggers a Mage veto or when a perimeter requires Warrior control.
  Typical Members: Trackers, scouts, skirmishers, and survivors who can operate alone without losing discipline; temperament tends toward taciturn, independent, and impatient with delay. Outsider Contact: Most folk meet them as grim roadwardens, sudden interrogators after an attack, or the quiet “hunter with a seal” who asks to see your hands and your cellar.
  Signature Work:
    • Mapping thin places, breach-belts, and early anomaly patterns.
    • Tracking Riftspawn leaders, cult couriers, and tainted beasts.
  • Executing “quiet removals” before panic or politics can interfere.
Branch Sign/Mark: A small arrowhead/track-mark variant worked into the medallion details.
Branch Hierarchy Snapshot
Entry begins as Novice, rising through Hexer and Adroit into specialist (Seeker), then officer (Marshal), senior command (Centurion), and finally continental doctrine (High Marshal). Hexers prize proven field judgment more than ceremony; promotions follow evidence, not bravado.
