Renown: The Card Game: The Setback
Sometimes in life when you are just starting out or trying something new, even when you try your best, something will slip through the cracks. It is often a painful education. Today we learned you cannot run two Kickstarters simultaneously without first having permission from the higher ups. Did we know this before we started promoting a dual Kickstarter event? Of course not. But things happen, you slip up, work hard, then get back up and keep moving.
It was our intention to launch Renown: The Card Game alongside our Kindred comic, but sadly we are unable to do so. As we speak, the Kickstarter for Kindred is up and running. What does this mean for Renown? The game is completely ready to go and we are only being jammed up by our own poor timing. We will gather the group and plan the next steps. For now, the prelaunch will remain up. As for the Kindred personality that would have been offered to backers of both Kickstarters, it will now go as a default in every order of Renown when the Kickstarter inevitably launches, as an apology for the inconvenience.
How are we handling it? We are disappointed at the delay but undeterred. We have been sitting on Renown for nearly a decade, so what is another few months? This gives us more time to prepare, more time to get our name out, and more time to upgrade the quality of Renown’s campaign. Mostly, we are disappointed to let down people we know are eager to have this game in their hands. We promise it will get there.
It is not all bad. We no longer have the stress of running and fulfilling two Kickstarters at the same time. Hopefully the tariff situation will balance out. It also gives your wallet a bit of a buffer in between purchases. In the meantime, you can still take part in the Kindred Kickstarter or play Renown free on Tabletop Simulator to tide you over. Thank you for the support, and we will let you know as soon as we have a new launch date.
