Beckoning of the Summer Tides
Although it began as a Summer ritual to appease Saint Mercius, the God of the Tides; over the years the beckoning of the Summer tides has become a larger summer ritual focused on good food, good company, and gatherings together as friends or family. As Mercians move against and detach from the religion of Saint Mercius and towards societal and industrial change the meaning of the ritual has gone against a reverence held to safeguard the future of the city of Mercia and towards a festivity of gathering and a celebration of the life and technology the Merfolk have created.
History
Although it began as a Summer ritual to appease Saint Mercius, the God of the Tides; over the years the beckoning of the Summer tides has become a larger summer ritual focused on good food, good company, and gatherings together as friends or family. As Mercians move against and detach from the religion of Saint Mercius and towards societal and industrial change the meaning of the ritual has gone against a reverence held to safeguard the future of the city of Mercia and towards a festivity of gathering and a celebration of the life and technology the Merfolk have created.
During the cultural and industrial revolutions within Mercia, the meaning of the appeasement rituals were called in to question alongside most worship of Saint Mercius and the Church of Saint Mercia. The people of Mercia eventually decided that the festivities should continue if anything to celebrate each other and their culture.
Execution
The Main bulk of the Beaconing of Summer Tides ritual is a feast, a 3-5 course meal that consists of various cultural and party foods laid out for guests to feast and enjoy from. This ranges from wrapped meats, pull apart bread and cheese combinations, and other such delicacies.
