Bitwise Shifter
Bitwise Shifters are extraordinary Constructs who possess the ability to shapeshift, allowing them to alter their form into an array of shapes and appearances limited only by their imagination. However, they are bound by a significant constraint known as the Bit Limit; this means that any new form they adopt must utilize the same number of bits as their original configuration. While they can creatively transform their form, they cannot create or eliminate bits — a foundational aspect of their design.
This unique trait, while fascinating, has led to widespread mistrust among most other Constructs. Many view Shifters with suspicion, comparing their elusive nature to that of an alien. This perception fosters a general sense of unease and apprehension, causing many Constructs to regard Shifters as unpredictable or even deceptive entities.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
Shifters exhibit a diverse and complex array of societal structures that vary widely across different regions. This rich tapestry of social organization has given rise to multiple dialects, each reflecting the unique cultural influences and histories of the groups that speak them. As a result, a vibrant list of slang terms has emerged, often characterized by playful names and local idioms.
Culture and cultural heritage
Shifters are thought to be descendants of the analog-based precursors, as they possess the remarkable ability to transform into nearly any object or assume the appearance of virtually anyone they choose. However, this has led to their ostracization; they are often viewed as a threat by the citizens of main_city. As a consequence, these individuals have been driven to the desolate outskirts of the city. There, they grapple with the rampant crime, viruses, and bugs.
With their basic needs largely unaddressed, many Shifters find themselves pushed into a life of desperation. They resort to crime, extortion, and piracy, engaging in underhanded dealings to survive. This lawless domain has become a breeding ground for dubious alliances and cutthroat rivalries.
Yet, amidst this grim reality, a select few have honed their abilities to maintain a single form of their choosing, cultivating a dual existence that allows them to blend in with the Statics — those who lack the capability to shift. For Shifters, remaining in one form is a constant challenge; they often experience involuntary shifts or glitches that reveal their true nature.
Xor'ian
(ˌzɔːrˈiːən)
Main article: Xor'ian
There exists a diverse array of Shifter types, each with unique abilities and characteristics. The majority of this group is commonly referred to as Shifters. However, among them is a distinct subset known as the Xor'ians, who are limited to shifting between only two specific forms.
What sets the Xor'ians apart from the typical Shifters is their remarkable stability; they exhibit no glitches while holding their form. They can maintain either of their forms with the grace and consistency resembling that of a conventional Static Construct.
Xor'ians are often thought to have bipolar disorder due to their dualistic nature. They are generally regarded with a sense of acceptance within the Static Construct community. Unlike the more shady and distrusted Shifters, the Xor'ians have been primarily living throughout main_city.
The term "Xor'ian" is derived from the logical operator XOR, which stands for Exclusive OR, signifying their unique capability to manifest only one of their two forms at any given moment. This nomenclature not only reflects their shifting abilities but also underscores the intricate balance that they maintain within their dual identities.
Spectre
Main article: Spectre
A particularly rare variant of Shifter is referred to as the Spectre. These beings possess a unique proficiency in advanced bitwise operations, known as Bitmasking, which empowers them to manipulate their digital essence with remarkable finesse. Through complex algorithms, Spectres execute rapid bit shifting, enabling them to generate the illusion of a nearly invisible shimmering presence. This ethereal quality contributes to their ghostly appearance, hence the name Spectres. They are believed to be more closely related to the analog-based precursors than others, as they also have the ability to become invisible. However, they achieve this through Phase Shifting rather than Bitmasking.
Typically, Spectres evoke fear in those who encounter them. Their reputation precedes them, as they are frequently associated with ruthless behavior and are entrenched within a vast, organized criminal syndicate. Their past is marked by audacious acts, including a daring yet ultimately unsuccessful assault on main_city. The enigmatic and dangerous nature of Spectres serves as a testament to their formidable capabilities and ambition.Shifter

This is a really interesting concept! I look forward to seeing more from this world ^^
