Bitwise Operation
The capability for a Construct to manipulate and rearrange their binary digits (bits), in order to alter their appearance, is known as a Bitwise Operation. This sophisticated procedure allows Constructs to execute various transformations by performing logical operations on their binary data. Among the diverse classifications of Constructs, Shifters are the only known entities equipped with this unique ability.
In contrast, the precursor Constructs, which were primarily analog-based, possessed the ability to change their form, but they did so through a process called Phase Shifting. Phase Shifting involves altering the energetic flux rather than manipulating binary information.
Effect
Shifters possess a remarkable ability that allows them to alter their appearance, enabling them to resemble virtually any individual or object. However, this transformation is governed by a critical limitation: the new form must adhere to the same binary digit (bit) count as the Construct's original configuration.
In addition to their basic shapeshifting capabilities, some Shifters, known as Spectres, can also execute an advanced Bitwise Operation known as Bitmasking. This process manifests as a subtle, almost imperceptible shimmer that appears around the Spectre, creating an illusion of transparency.
