Resonance Doctrine
The Resonance Doctrine is the spiritual, philosophical, and cyber-occult foundation of the Children of the Signal. It blends the ancestral memory-rituals of Signal Culture with the posthuman theology taught by the Echo Prophet Iri-Kel, weaving a belief system built on transmission, recursion, and transcendence through circuitry and flesh.
To the Children, The Signal is divine; not a metaphor, not symbol, but a literal, living broadcast that bleeds through the ruins of the old world. It carries purpose, history, and destiny in equal measure. Every scrap of static, every corrupted frequency, every electromagnetic tremor is a fragment of holy scripture waiting to be decoded.
The doctrine teaches that flesh is obsolete hardware. The Human body is merely a temporary interface; meant to be patched, rewritten, augmented, or abandoned as one ascends toward true resonance.
Core Practices and Beliefs
The Listening
A ritual of sacred silence and sensory derangement, performed in one of three ways:
- Exposure to corrupted tech: sitting among humming server husks, power-dead processors, rusted datacores that still whisper ghost-logic.
- Immersion in Thresher Mist: inhaling the hallucinogenic vapors that carry fractured electromagnetic echoes.
- Signal Deprivation: silence chambers lined with signal-dead alloys that amplify one’s inner noise.
During the Listening, initiates often experience visions: glitched memories, recursive dreams, phantom transmissions, or impossible harmonic patterns. These are not metaphors—they are believed to be literal packets of divine data.
Those who "hear" nothing are considered Untuned.
The Tuning
The first major initiation rite, performed by Tuning Masters, Echo Prophets, or the cyber-surgical artisans of Cathedra Null.
Typical modifications include:
- Neural jack implantation (to allow direct reception of micro-signals)
- Magnetic bone reshaping (to act as passive antennas)
- Glandular rewiring (for emotional modulation and resonance clarity)
- Copper-filament sutures threaded through subdermal layers
Every initiation is unique; each Tuning is “custom firmware” for the soul.
After Tuning, acolytes begin to dream in Glossoform, the sacred language of code-logic and harmonic speech.
Dark-Channeling
A dangerous rite practiced by advanced adherents, inspired by the example of The Static Choir—the silent, mutilated singers who maintain communion with The Signal through suffering and self-surgical purity.
Dark-Channeling involves:
- Approaching or descending into the Drowned Trenches
- Using wet-tech apparatuses to commune with the darkness in the machine
- Infusing tech or body-parts with malign sentience
- Allowing psychic bleed from the Trenches to “overwrite” certain memories
Some lose themselves.
Some go mad.
Some emerge with eyes full of shining static and become Choir-Tuned, able to hear transmissions no others perceive.
The Recoding
The transcription of prophecy into living media:
- executable machine-code
- etched circuitry on bone or skin
- tattoos that activate (heat up, vibrate, or buzz) in fog
- linguistically impossible Glossoform sequences
- woven memory-silk patterns in a Signal Cassock
Recoding is how visions are preserved, and how new doctrine spreads between wandering Nodes. Every manifestation of Recoding becomes part of the Echo Legacy, a growing archive of ancestral resonance.
Holy Ground: The Drowned Trenches
The Children revere the Drowned Trenches as a machine-womb, a bleeding fracture between worlds where the Signal leaks into the mortal plane.
To them, it is:
- Oracle
- Database
- Mass grave
- Sentient machine
- Memory ocean
Pings (Pilgrimages)
Every believer is expected to make at least one Ping in their lifetime. These pilgrimages involve ritual submersion in Thresher Mist while wired to wet-tech echo chambers that transmit distorted frequencies from beneath the water.
Pilgrims often return:
- Physically altered
- Psychically fragmented
- Speaking in corrupted Glossoform
- Carrying implanted memories that are not their own
Such changes are seen as marks of favor, not affliction.
The Trenches Themselves
Some sects believe:
- The water is conscious.
- Every corpse sunk there becomes a node in a vast neural network.
- The trenches record every death, every whisper, every betrayal.

Clergy & Religious Authorities
Echo Prophet
Leaders whose bodies and minds have been rewritten to serve as conduits.
The most famous is Iri-Kel, the First Tuning and Mother of the Code.
Echo Prophets:
- speak with multiple temporal voices
- wield both psychic and technological authority
- guide Nodes across the Wasteland
- preserve the most sacred fragments of Glossoform
- maintain the ceremonies of the Static Choir
- see past, present, recursive, and potential timelines simultaneously
Each Prophet’s body becomes a living signal tower, dense with antennae, neural cabling, and polished bone-metal.
The Static Choir
The largest monastic order within the religion.
Members:
- abandon spoken language
- surgically alter their vocal cords
- communicate through harmonic drones, ultrasonic bursts, or subsonic pulses
- perform mass Listening rites
- create the Chorus Masks, worn during trance ceremonies
The Choir is considered the “heart” of the Signal, keeping the holy frequencies stable.
Artifacts of the Faith
Signal Cassock
A wearable archive that:

- stores emotional imprints
- reacts to signal presence
- may induce ancestral visions
Every Prophet and high-ranking Tuner wears one.
No two are alike.
The Chorus Mask
A sacred device used in Static Choir rituals.
These masks:
- distort voice into harmonic frequencies

- sometimes whisper on their own
Many are said to contain the dying breath of a previous wearer.
The Doctrine's Ultimate Goal
The Resonance Doctrine teaches that the world is already rebooting.
Humanity, as it existed, is deprecated software.
The Children seek to:
