Western Spur

A continuation of the mountain range that made up Lassam, the Western Spur is called that because it is west of the Grand Calm. Before the raising of Lassam, the islands of the Western Spur had limited contact with their northern neighbors. Unlike the people of Lassam who were not seafarers, the people of the Western Spur were not able to flee to high ground as their Dragon Tyranny sank beneath the waves. They took to seafaring to spread throughout the spur. Because of the strength of the north wind, there was initially little northward travel until sailing technology advanced.

Geography

The islands of the Western Spur were initially mountaintops. Other than four larger islands that can support multiple cultures, the dozens of islands that make up the Western Spur typically support a singular culture.

Politics

These cultures tend towards tribalism where the people raise up a leader, or a powerful family maintains authority over the island. There is a history of powerful leaders bringing multiple islands under their control through warfare or subversion of the other rulers, but these kingdoms rarely survive more than two or three generations of the overlord.

Religion

Pacts are the primary interaction with the divine. Each island typically has their own Divinity revered by their people. These can be elemental, genus loci, or ancestral spirit
