Grand Calm

At the center of the gyre at the center of the Civilized territory on Thousand Seas. Winds and currents circle the gyre counter clockwise, encourages sailing in the same counterclockwise direction. The closer to the center of the gyre, the slower the winds and calmer the seas become. Eventually at the very center the winds die out. This makes the Grand Calm the largest navigational hazard within the Thousand Seas. It is believed that this is caused by the presence of Air or Water Elemental Fonts within the Grand Calm, but no one has sought out to prove that definitively.
