The Meer - Public
Also known as the Antuar, the Meer are an insectoid people, and are an undeterrable interplanetary expansionists with an alien hive intelligences. While Meer are not inherently evil, they are aggressive in the expansion of new colonies on every habitable world they can find. Eventually everything becomes food, slave, or Meer. This instinct to expand the hive at all cost often causes conflict with every neighbor they meet, they don't care worse land or rights they encroach upon, all that matters is the expansion of the hives and the will of their queens.
Theirs is a race that is seemingly trapped in the panic that the reduction of any hive will ultimately lead to the death of their people.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Most of the various breeds of Meer follow the same anatomical shape.
Lile ants, their bodies have a head, thorax, and gaster. They stand on four legs attached to their lower thorax and their gaster holds a poisonous sting. It is the upper portion of their thorax that looks humanoid, with two arms and a, albeit insectoid, head. Though some breads with have a smaller pair of arms that are used to carry firearms or finer manipulation than their primary arms and hands.
Civilization and Culture
History
Like many things, the history of the Meer traces far back into the vast annals of lost and forgotten history of the World-That-Was. Not even the gods know their true origins, only that they were made by much older hands. What is known, is that that the Meer lived in peace far away from humans and their gods. They remained indifferent to The Great Making and the birth of the new mortal races and the hands of the gods. When the All-Wanter declared his war upon creation, they continued their indifference until the Ruinous Powers came for the Hives. Though the fighting was brutal and bloody on both sides, the Hive survived, though they were now tainted by a yet undiscovered corruption.
The Hives were able to recover by the start of the Second War of Want, and were far better prepared to fight the Ruinous Powers and the horrors they wielded. Intense and brutal fighting ensued with the Meer hold the fiends at bay until something changed. The forces of the Ruinous Powers dispersed and retreated, leaving the Meer alone, but not in peace.
