The Talons

  • Decedents are only considered Talons once a majority of physical Dracena traits have been bred out of the bloodline
  • Humans don't track lineage to the same extent as the Dracena, so they view the Talons as Fae-like creatures because of the folk stories of their people
  • Talons have slightly elongated ears, tattoo-like markings, and a level of control over their ancestors' element(s)
  • Talons will feed into a human belief of their Fae-like powers to protect themselves and their families

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

The Talons are considered more beautiful then the Dracena to humans because of their lack of animalistic features. Talons have been described as ethereal, divine, and even unsettling by historical accounts. The closer to human they look, the more beautiful they are in mortal eyes. Dracena prefer weighing a Talons' personality to decide if they are beautiful. Since Talons and Dracena can have children together, it helps bring fresh blood into Dracena families.  Talons are sexualized by humans, so will mostly avoid them. Talons look for a mix of personality and beauty when searching for a life partner. This allows them to keep using their looks as a defense against humans in later generations.

Gender Ideals

Talons are extremely egalitarian because they are such a small ethnic group. They work more on lifting their community, rather than focusing on the differences between them. This can put them at odds with both Dracena and Humans, since both have more rigid gender roles. Talons who enter the Dracena community via High Society find it difficult to fit in. They have to go through years of training to separate their personal ideals from the expected gender norms of their role in Dracena High Society.
Descendants of human-dracena children. Several generations removed ,so only a few traits remain, such as pointed ears and a mild affinity for the elements their ancestor controlled.
