The Wingtips

A cluster of settlements that exist where Dracena and Human lands intersect.

The Wingtips are the first areas destroyed when the Humans and Dracena go to war but are the most prosperous in trade.

Since war comes to these areas first, the settlements have been destroyed and rebuilt over the years. As the borders shifted and monarchs changed, so did the settlement locations. Some human kings are fine with The Wingtips being close to their border or even within their kingdom. Other human kings have razed The Wingtips to the ground, uncaring for the human lives they also destroy by doing so.

Dracena and Human relationships are best in The Wingtips as the areas are composed of tradespeople and crafters. Many friendships last generations, and even when human kings tear down the settlements, the common folk band together. The healthy co-working relationship between spices is why Human Kings lean toward destruction. They are more afraid of uprisings where the Dragon Lords are not due to how they rise to power.

It's common to see Dracena and Humans in romantic relationships in The Wingtips. While these unions never result in children because of conflicts in biology, many Dracena will stay with a human partner for their entire lives. This is especially common with younger Dracena, who have yet to settle down with a mate and are beginning their careers within the settlements.

The Wingtips were the catalyst of more than one treaty between human kings and dragon lords. The most recent is the one that saw Princess Mira betrothed to Prince Altair. This treaty sadly fell through when the family of the princess was slain and she went missing. The Ashwild Accords would go into effect twenty years later, and Lord Altair credited The Wingtips as a deciding factor in parlaying with humans after the war.

Government

The Wingtips are independent of Dracena and Human rule.

A council of three dracena and three humans is elected to oversee individual settlements.

The Wingtips are the only areas not in service to a monarch. The council of each settlement is elected by those living within it and is expected to serve the people's needs.

While the settlements are known as The Wingtips, each one is given a unique name by the town inhabitants.
