The Carved Palace

Amidst the dark forest lies the Carved Palace, a wonder of arcane craftmanship. The palace is created entirely of summoned materials and crafted by the wise minds of the human arcanists that inhabited the Ponhearian areas around The Uprising.

Purpose / Function

The Carved Palace houses The Academy of Magic, and was build as both an excercise for the enrolled students at the time of creation, and as a display of power and prowess.

Architecture

The palace is made up of 7 towers connected by curtain walls, making up a heptagonical shape, surrounding the heptagonal main keep. The grounds are surrounded by the battlements with outerwalls connected by 7 heptagonal defensive towers, inner walls connected to the defensive towers as well, with moats inbetween the outer and inner walls, as well as on he outside of the outerwalls. The grounds are segregated into 7 wards by curtain walls going from the outer defensive towers to the inner towers of the Palace. The grounds are connected by gates in the curtains walls.   To get into the Palace one must cross the moat by the bridge leading to the Gate House. When past the gate house, one enters the Main Way Ward that leads directly to the main entrance to the bailey where the Main Keep stands.  

The Main Keep

The Main Keep is the main building of the Palace and hosts the most necessary buildings, such as the Dining Hall, Class Rooms, Libraries, Common Halls, Sleeping Quarters for the Prospects, Arch Mage' Quarter and the like.  

The Towers

There are 7 towers surrounding the Main Keep. Each tower is overseen by a High Magus, each of which is a master of a different school of magic. The tower contains a library with advanced books related to the school of magic taught in the tower. The High Magus has a large chamber at the very top of the tower, and there are several rooms decorated for teaching, study and experimentation. Every Novice is granted a small chamber within the tower of their chosen school of magic, so that they are never fair from both their mentor and their specialised library.  

The Grounds

The Grounds are divided into 7 Wards:
  1. The Main Way Ward: The battlements are decorated with banners of both Ponhearia and the Academy, a paved road leads from the gate house to a large fortified door, leading to the center baily and the Keep.
  2. The Stable Ward: Directly to the East of the main ward is the stable ward connected by a large gate, big enough or horses and wagons. The wards is made up of mainly stables and storage buildings.
  3. The Ward of Reflection: An area with lots of still pools of water, fine trimmed bushes, and lots of small tables, benches, etc. There's a constant noice of trickling water.
  4. The Alchemy Ward: Filled with glassgardens, and all sorts of useful plants, this is the perfect place to get ingredients for potions.
  5. The Wild Ward: A ward that has been allowed to grow wild. It is a study of chaos.
  6. The Ward of Statues: A beautiful gardens with lots of lifelike statues of people of all kinds. It is easy to get lost here, but those that live at the castle know to follow the statues.
  7. The Green Ward: A large green lawn, useful for training in ranged arcana.

Environmental Effects
A defensive shield has been added to the Palace, that makes it difficult for people who hasn't been initiated, to find it.   When within 1 mile of the Palace humanoid creatures has to make a DC18 INT saving throw or lose all sense of direction, and begin walking in the opposite direction, though they believe they are walking in the right direction.
