Westerstrum Army
The Westerstrum army is the most powerful armed force in arginthorn. It has been slowly claiming territory from the Oakenbust Clans in the name of the empire since its formal creation. It is an icon of nationalism for the people who live under its protection, but also a symbol of excessive power and brutality to its neighbors.
Structure
The army has a rather simple structure, delegating authority in a simple pyramid form. At the top, and reporting directly to the Westerstrum council, is the Grand Marshall who stays in communication with the 4 Marshalls, each located in one of the major cities excluding the capitol. Each city acts as a command hub where its Marshall sends out orders and receives reports from the various Generals located throughout the region that city covers. The generals regularly shift position to stay on top of the happenings of the empire, taking command and issuing orders to the captains of individual units who are assisted each by a lieutenant. Foot soldiers who stand out in capability can be promoted to Private and are often given more important tasks and occasionally given minor command of small detachments. Outside the regular hierarchy there is also an Expedition Marshal who is responsible for the military activities of the men stationed in the empires north most territory bordering Frostfall.
Assets
They have access to innumerable amounts of armor, weapons and ammunition. Additionally the empire makes heavy use of a wide range of siege weaponry ranging from simple catapults and ballistae, to armored flame tanks and wall busters. In the most drastic of circumstances the empire can decide to employ Nimrog the Sickly Terror as a devastating field weapon, this decision has historically lead to considerable collateral damage and loss of life even for the empire.
