General of Westerstrum

The third highest rank in the Westerstrum army, and the highest rank that sees regular action. The generals take command of the many soldiers deployed across the empire.

Qualifications

Generally speaking, the generals are expected to have seen actual combat, to have come out victorious and show the capability to motivate and lead the soldiers under them. Technically a general could be promoted through social negotiation, but this is heavily frowned upon and rarely happens.

Duties

They are tasked with ensuring the local marshall is aware of their positions, status, supply needs, and mission progress. They are responsible for delegating duties to the captains under them in the most effective manner, and are expected to personally engage with their forces when doing so would not be an out of the way task.

Benefits

The generals are frequently either in towns, or the country side. When in towns their lodging and food is covered by the council, and their rations for time in the wilderness is as well. They are paid a pension at the end of their service to allow swift re-entry to civilian life. Finally they are armed with the best gear the empire can afford.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Failure in battle, or neglect of duty, are most commonly the reason for dismissal of a general, however either their local marshal or the Grand Marshall can dismiss them with reason. The council can remove a general for any reason they wish.
