Shogun Thakesis (Tack-hee-sis)

It is said that the land of Ryoukuni was formed out of the bodies of ancient great wyrms that once ruled the world, and that the dragonborn were born from their demise. As children of dragons, it would be only natural that they would be ruled by dragons themselves, the descendants of the great wyrms.   The current shogun of Ryoukuni is one such dragon. An ancient purple dragon by the name of Takhesis. She is the result of years of interbreeding between dragon types to create the most powerful of dragons. Under the mounting pressure of the immense military force of the New World Trading Company, Takhesis has allied herself with Pirate Lord Jira, combining their powers to become one of the biggest military threats on the New World.   Takhesis, rather wisely, does not trust Jira, and is merely using him, planning to supplant him when the time comes, but is unsure of how to even injure him. Unbeknownst to her, Jira also plots against her, planning to devour her heart and become a full dragon himself.   She rose to power after the last shogun, an ancient gold dragon, died during the Forgotten Age. She is not his direct descendant but rather schemed her way to the top.   Chromatic dragons in Ryoukuni used to be treated like orcs in the Old World. With the rise of a chromatic dragon shogun, most of the old metallic dragonborn Daimyo have had their lands given to chromatic dragon.

Powers and Abilities

Takhesis is extremely powerful due to her heritage, with a mix of red and blue dragon blood, the two most powerful types of chromatic dragons. This makes her even larger and stronger than a dragon of equivalent age, as well as power over both lightning and fire. In addition, when she calls upon her breath weapon, she can combine both fire and lightning to create a brand new element - a beam of pure plasma that can burn through almost any substance, regardless of resistance. Said beam is so bright that it risks blindness to all who look at it directly. Takhesis is especially proud of this ability and has honed her skill with it to the point she can use it so precisely as to remove limbs or pieces of ships for large distances.   An ability that also appears to be due to her unique heritage is an innate understanding of language and linguistics, despite her having little interest in the field. She instinctively understands all spoken language she hears and can decipher any text, even the ancient language of the Forgotten Age. To her, all this ability is is another piece of proof of her inherent right to rule. This particular ability fascinates Jira, however. He believes that there exists a passage somewhere that explains how to get past the Glass Sea, if only he could read it.   Unlike many dragons, Takhesis completely lacks the ability to cast any spells at all, considering the extra effort to be completely beneath her. This is in spite of the immense magical potential that dwells within her.

Personality

Takhesis is an extreme hedonist, loving nothing more than to party, drink and eat good foods at all times. She hosts countless parties and celebrations among her vassals and the Thousand Beast Pirates multiple times a week.   She is also an extremely arrogant and lazy person, believing that by being born the mightiest of dragons that Ryoukuni and the world itself ought to be hers by birthright. As such, she despises being made to do any extra work maintaining her lands or expanding her borders, choosing top leave that to her cabal of advisors. Anything that gets in the way of her non stop partying is an immense chore, and if it were up to her, any distraction should be incinerated by plasma.   Because of her immense arrogance, Takhesis absolutely loathes disrespect. She in her mind is the most magnificent and beautiful creature on earth, and anyone who doesn't see that must be taught a lesson. Disrespect used to be met with incineration, but at her advisors' request has instead opted for lifetime imprisonment at a work camp, where the culprit will spend the rest of their lives producing weapons for her evergrowing forces.   Despite her arrogance, Takhesis is no fool. She can be a shrewd tactician or a smooth talker when she needs to be, and has a talent for knowing exactly when her underlings need a reminder of the sheer power she possesses. She has no doubt in her mind that someone like Jira would be scheming of a way to get access to her power. As such, all of her vassals are equipped with silver swords, and she has her most trusted priestess check her court for signs of lycanthropy at all times. She also has a small retinue of shinobi under her that lurk in the shadows near her at all times. Sometimes she'll deliberately leave herself seemingly open to assassination in the hopes that any would-be assassins make an attempt only to be murdered by either her ninja or her on the off chance that the assassin proves too much for her bodyguards. So far Jira has not taken the bait.   That said, there is a part of Takhesis that fears Jira. She's seen how unpredictable and terrible the man is firsthand, and if he challenged her directly, a part of her worries that she won't be able to defeat him due to his endless supply of beast shapes that protect his true form from harm. She would never admit this to herself however, and besides, the samurai of Ryoukuni wouldn't stand for a non-dragon ruler, especially one that took the throne by force. Yes, not even a brute like Jira would dare murder Takhesis in broad daylight, surely? At least, that's what she tells herself. To combat this, she has a team of her best scholars studying in secret in an attempt to figure out some sort of weakness to Jira's ability.   The real reason Jira doesn't just kill her is actually far more simple. Although he's confident he could win, Takhesis is powerful and desperate enough that their battle might demolish a large portion of Ryoukuni as well as devastate his forces. Plus, he thinks that Takhesis knows the location of Tiamat's corpse, something that she has no clue about.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Takhesis has two common forms, her true draconic shape, and a smaller humanoid form, which is traditional for the Shogun of Ryoukuni to adopt during public appearances, since appearing in full dragon form is seen as an aggressive move.   In draconic form, she is a huge beast measuring nearly 90 feet from nose to tail with a wingspan of around 75 feet. Her scales are a deep purple that glimmers like armour in the sunlight. Her years of languishing in her victory have left her out of shape, leaving her visibly overweight with a pronounced large gut that hides the incredible strength that lies beneath. Elaborate jewellery and adornments cover her horns, limbs and tail. Her most prized possession is Oki-Shoshoku-kin, a massive, elaborately decorated white haori custom-made to be large enough to cover and accommodate her dragon form. Experts estimate it to be roughly worth 100,000GP.   In humanoid form, Takhesis prefers a form similar to the elves rather than her dragonborn kin, as a means to set herself apart as much as possible. In her elven form, she retains her overweight appearance, which puts her in stark contrast to the starving people of her own country. She maintains an elaborate shimada style hair adorned with all manner of baubles and trinkets that represent her status. Said hair is the same deep purple as her dragon form's scales, as her eyes, which emit a constant dim glow.  She stands above her peers, appearing roughly 6'8, although this height is often accentuated by the tall shoes she tends to wear.   When appearing in public, Takhesis can be seen wearing a reagal kimono of the same colour as her scales alongside the Three Royal Regalia of Ryoukuni - the Grass Cutter, the Dusk Mirror and the Sacred Magatama - all of which signify her rightful rulership as Shogun.

Physical quirks

In humanoid form, Takhesis enjoys walking around with Grass Cutter in hand, idly hitting fence posts and other objects absent-mindedly like a child with no care at all for its safety or wellbeing, indicative of her total disbelief in her own mortality.
