Caspary Empire

Once the most powerful empire in Baltharos, the Caspary Empire now exists under Demon Lord Krane’s shadow, its once-proud nobility reduced to figureheads. Queen Regent, Faraliss Mordoom Caspary maintains the illusion of autonomy, but the true hand guiding the empire is Demon Commander Missandria, a master manipulator and enforcer of Krane’s will. Missandria operates from Eldermere City, subtly weaving her influence through the nobility, crushing dissent before it blooms, and ensuring the empire remains a compliant cog in Arasaka’s dominion. With her friendship with Empress Azena Caspary, First of her name, Ruler of the Caspary Empire, Champion of Khabris the bond and strength of Krane and the Empire is stronger than others. Despite this, the Caspary Empire remains wealthy, its natural resources, lumber, and sprawling cities making it the largest and most influential nation on the continent.   Caspary remains a cultural and economic powerhouse, with its regions acting almost as independent kingdoms, each ruled by noble bloodlines loyal to the Casparys and, by extension, Missandria. Lumber, metals, crops, and enchanted goods sustain its wealth, though much is tithed to Krane’s legions. Missandria’s influence ensures political stability, even as whispers of rebellion circulate among old loyalists.

Structure

Queen Regent, Faraliss Mordoom Caspary serves as the face of power, while Demon Commander Missandria directs policy behind closed doors. Three major regions, each ruled by chosen noble bloodlines, swear fealty to the Casparys. Demon patrols reinforce Missandria’s decrees and root out sedition.

Culture

Caspary culture emphasizes legacy, wealth, and pragmatism. Nobility maintain lavish lifestyles while commoners labor in forests, farms, and quarries. Festivals once celebrating human achievement now include tributes to Krane and displays of demonic power orchestrated by Missandria.

Public Agenda

The Caspary Empire’s modern agenda is to maintain favor with Krane and preserve what remains of its influence. While Faraliss seeks to retain her family’s power, most policies now serve Krane’s continental goals, from resource extraction to maintaining order in Arasaka.

Assets

  • Blackthorn Keep, Silvermoon Castle, and Gloomsburg as regional centers of power.
  • Vast forests producing unmatched lumber, the empire’s most prized resource.
  • Extensive farmland, animal products, fresh water supplies, and mineral-rich mountains.
  • A historically elite military, now bolstered and overshadowed by Krane’s forces.
  • A population of roughly 12 million, with a strong base of humans and tieflings.

History

Founded by Empress Azena Caspary, First of her name, Ruler of the Caspary Empire, Champion of Khabris, the empire reigned as Baltharos’s dominant power for over a millennium, fueled by endless resources and military might. Krane’s arrival shattered their supremacy, forcing Faraliss to cede control to preserve the empire. Missandria’s presence ensures obedience, her subtle manipulation keeping the Casparys in line.

Demography and Population

The Caspary Empire boasts roughly 12 million people, with nearly every species represented, though humans and tieflings are the majority. Its population is spread across the three regional kingdoms and Eldermere City, with urban centers thriving under Krane’s strict oversight.

Territories

The empire occupies a vast portion of Arasaka, with sprawling forests, fertile plains, mountain ranges rich in minerals, and key trade hubs like Eldermere City, Blackthorn Keep, and Gloomsburg. Its size once gave it unparalleled self-sufficiency, now leveraged by Krane’s dominion.

Military

Historically the largest and best-trained force in Baltharos, the Casparian military remains formidable, though now subordinated to Krane’s demon legions. Casparian soldiers act as enforcers and auxiliaries to Krane’s armies, ensuring order across Arasaka.

Technological Level

Caspary retains a late medieval technological base, with modest arcane integration in industry and logistics. Innovation has slowed under Krane’s rule, as most research benefits his armies and operations rather than civilian life.

Foreign Relations

Once a political and military juggernaut, the Caspary Empire now has no independent foreign policy, as all continental dealings flow through Krane. Neighboring nations view the empire as both a resource hub and a warning of Krane’s absolute power.

Laws

  • Loyalty to Krane and the Caspary family is mandatory for all citizens.
  • Unauthorized lumber trade or hoarding of resources is punishable by execution.
  • Any rebellion, magical or mundane, is met with extermination.

Agriculture & Industry

The empire produces abundant crops, livestock, metals, and gems, but its true industry is lumber, renowned across Baltharos for its quality and abundance. Much of this production now feeds Krane’s war machine and trade networks.

Trade & Transport

Caspary once served as Arasaka’s economic heart, trading lumber, metals, and agricultural goods freely. Now, all trade is funneled through Krane’s sanctioned routes, with Missandria overseeing exports and tariffs.

Education

Once home to prestigious academies and martial colleges, Caspary’s education system now focuses on practical skills: logging, crafting, basic arcane studies, and soldier training, with higher learning largely restricted to those serving Demon Lord Krane.

Infrastructure

Caspary’s infrastructure remains extensive, with paved trade roads, fortified castles, thriving urban centers, and advanced lumber processing facilities. While still functional, much of its upkeep is now directed toward Krane’s needs rather than civic development.
