Maximilian is among the most widely worshiped gods in Hugo City, largely due to his volatile temperament toward those who neglect him. Though often temperamental, he ensures the balance of the world’s weather, a duty he fulfills while remaining deeply loyal to Kava, goddess of the Seas, who granted him a second chance at life. Once a mortal sailor and devout servant of Kava, Maximilian died in a monsoon intended for another vessel near Nineveh, prompting Kava’s rare moment of regret. Resurrected and imbued with divine power, he now carries out Kava’s commands, controlling weather to maintain balance while demanding the respect he believes is his due.
