Ikitur Mountains (ick-it-uhr)

The island of Ikitur is comprised mostly of mountains, with a large range taking up most available land south of the tundra. These mountains are tall and perpetually snow-capped, even the ones further to the south. The height of these mountains also tends to raise the land around in many areas, with the southeastern city of Brady Point sitting on top of hundred-foot sea cliffs. Most of the inhabited parts of the island, in fact, have a noticeable slope away from the center and toward the surrounding seas.   The mountains themselves are rocky and inhospitable, home to very few creatures and no known peoples. The few mountain caves and tunnels are choked with ice, which makes living in or even determining their depth impossible. There are a few mines at the base of the mountains, typically near the cities or towns. These mines are not super deep, and to this day there have been no reports of Underdark passages or the typical monsters one would encounter in deeper mining operations. Many suspect the monsters are indeed underneath the mining operations, but the current digging has not gone deep enough to reach them - and may never, due to demand and size of the operations.   Not much is known about the northern face of the mountains, deep within the tundra. Explorers trying to search for caves or map the mountains' exact borders are harassed by the undead from Eiselberg Keep, and none have been able to complete their surveys to date. Because of this, it is unclear what may lie at or under the norther reaches of this mountain range; perhaps it is more ice-filled caves and impenetrable tunnels, or maybe there is some connection to Eiselberg or some deeper evil that lies dormant or undiscovered.
