Personal history
Raphael grew up in a family that ran a popular restaurant called The Din & Spice. He adored his father’s cooking and wanted nothing more than to follow in his footsteps. As he tried different foods around the city, he became fascinated by the variety of styles, flavors, and techniques. That curiosity only grew when he met his best friend, Asmodeus, who introduced him to high-class cuisine and even military rations. The sheer range of ways food could be prepared intrigued Raphael deeply.
With Asmodeus dreaming of becoming an adventurer, Raphael began thinking about the world beyond his city. He imagined traveling, learning countless cooking traditions, and tasting every kind of food he could find.
When they turned sixteen, the two made a pact: they would join the Adventurers’ Guild when they turned twenty. But first, Raphael needed basics fighting, survival, discipline and, above all, he had to earn his father’s approval. His father insisted that if Raphael couldn’t surpass him with a dish of his own style, he wasn’t ready to explore the world of culinary arts.
Raphael knew his father wasn’t being cruel; he wanted to push his son to grow. So Raphael spent the next several years working harder than ever, training both in cooking and combat. Under Asmodeus’s influence, he learned the sword and shield, drawn to the idea of protecting others. It came naturally Raphael had always stepped in to defend people, even when he couldn’t fight. In fact, that’s how he met Asmodeus: he was shielding a group of kids from bullies, getting pummeled until Asmodeus showed up and took them down effortlessly.
Alongside his combat training, Raphael worked in the restaurant and studied with his parents’ many culinary friends. He learned new flavor profiles, seasoning methods, and the myths behind legendary ingredients rare meats, monster cuts, and the tricky art of preparing gamey creatures. These stories only strengthened his desire to become an adventurer and travel in search of new tastes.
When Raphael turned twenty, it was time. To earn his father’s blessing, he challenged him to a cooking duel.
His father prepared his specialty: Dark Flame Buffalo ribs tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned, falling off the bone the instant you bit into them. A subtle char glazed with a sweetened seed-mix gave them a rich, smoky sweetness that was nearly unmatched.
Raphael crafted his own dish: octopus balls and grilled mini-kraken legs, marinated in garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and sea salt. He tenderized the meat to perfection neither chewy nor slimy smooth in texture with a clean ocean brightness. The octopus balls were filled with mini-kraken and coated in a creamy sauce that enhanced its natural flavor.
The judges declared the ribs superior but also admitted Raphael had made one of the best mini-kraken dishes they’d tasted in years. Hearing this, his father finally smiled and gave his approval.
It was the day Raphael officially earned his right to become an adventurer and to chase the culinary world beyond the walls of home.

Family Ties
Mom – Astreal Morvessa
Astreal manages the front of the restaurant, handling the bills, accounting, and customer service. She absolutely dotes on Raphael except when they’re on the restaurant floor. There, she becomes a strict, no-nonsense boss who expects professionalism from everyone, including her son.
Dad – Michel Morvessa
Michel is an exceptional chef who loves barbecue and takes pride in serving excellent food to everyone. He originally hoped Raphael would one day take over the restaurant, but once he saw his son develop his own culinary dreams, Michel became even more supportive. He pushed Raphael harder not out of pressure, but out of pride wanting his son to grow strong enough to chase his own path.
Mannerisms
Raphael is a calm, disciplined, and friendly person the type who rarely raises his voice. But when things go off-plan, his temper flares quickly. Most of the time, he’s one of the most loyal and dependable people you’ll ever meet, almost monk-like in his steadiness. Yet the moment something derails his expectations or Asmodeus launches into one of his wild schemes the floodgates open, and Raphael will start complaining nonstop.
Despite that, he is usually cheerful, polite, and easy to be around. He gives 110% to anything he puts his mind to and carries a deep passion for food. The rare times he breaks his calm demeanor are when he encounters a new type of ingredient, dish, or cooking style he’s never seen before those moments light him up with genuine excitement.
