Geryu, God of Oceans

While in simple terms, Geryu is the God over all water and the countless beings that dwell within it, her Title carries a far deeper and more intricate meaning. The sea is not just a body of water; it is a realm of boundless mystery—a cradle of life and a grave of secrets lost to time. It is a place of discovery, offering endless opportunities for exploration and learning, yet it is also an abyss of darkness where knowledge slips beyond grasp, teasing those who dare to search its depths.   Like the tides she commands, Geryu is a paradox—eternal yet ever-changing, calm yet capable of cataclysmic fury. Her existence stretches back to the dawn of the Auroraverse, yet she remains as enigmatic and unfathomable as the deepest trenches of the sea. Those who worship her do so not only out of reverence but also out of fear, knowing that while the sea can give, it can just as easily take without warning. Geryu is the vastness itself, an entity of both beauty and terror, whose will ebbs and flows beyond mortal comprehension.

Origin

Most Gods were born from the worship of intelligent, sentient mortals, their identities molded by these creatures' desires and fears. Geryu, however, emerged from the unspoken reverence of creatures whose world was defined by the vast, uncharted depths of the ocean—beings whose understanding of life and existence is purely instinctual. Her birth was marked not by prayers or rituals, but by the currents, the migrations, and the ceaseless pulse of marine life. Because of this, Geryu's perspective is as deep and unfathomable as the ocean itself.   She was born not seeing the world through the narrow lens of civilization or morality; she views it as a grand, interconnected expanse where survival, balance, and the relentless flow of life prevail. To her, every creature, from the smallest plankton to the mightiest leviathan, has a role in the ocean's symphony. Her wisdom is ancient, not shaped by logic or language, but by the primal rhythms that govern the tides.

Typical Alignment: True Neutral

Followers: Geryu is synonymous with the sea, and her worship centers around maritime activities, the study of ancient knowledge, and the acknowledgment of the cyclical nature of the tides. Followers venerate the ocean's bounty and view Geryu as an immutable force, securing their respect through rituals performed near bodies of water.

Church: Geryu’s churches are often deeply connected to water, while on the surface these waters appear ordinary those more attuned to divination may find untold futures within them.

Champions

Champions of Geryu are often those who embody the ocean wholly. Those who get annoyed by little but once their anger reaches their breaking point come crashing down on whoever set them off. A prime example of this is one of the current champions, Captain Fang.

Guard the Ocean’s Bounty: Protect the creatures and treasures of the sea and all that lies within Geryu’s dominion.

Relationships

Geryu disdains the shortsightedness of her fellow Gods, most of whom have convinced themselves that they can impose lasting order on the cosmos. At the same time, her realm is unassailable, and she believes that the changes she advocates are inevitable in the long term.

• Lumair: While Lumair has been infatuated with Geryu since she appeared, Geryu dislikes Lumair's obsession with a perfect world based on his laws. Because of this though Lumair attempts to curry her favor, she shows no affection in return.
• Ferhenz: During the time he was disabled by Maluzu, Geryu took pity on him and helped him recover his Title. Since then they’ve been good friends.
• Darux: Geryu has an immense respect for Darux as one of the few Gods not attempting to make their own Cosmic Order, as well he’s one of the few Geryu believes is also looking to the future though she believes he’s thinking a little too far. Despite this Geryu desires to continue to be one of the few allies of the God of Death.
