Nimhra Kathraen

Appearance

  Nimhra Kathraen is a light pale blue–skinned ice elf with features touched by Asiendalian blood. Despite her youthful maturity by Asiendalian standards, her beauty carries an almost natural serenity — a grace inherited from her ice elf lineage. Her pale blue eyes gleam with a mix of smug intellect and quiet sadness. She dresses practically, often with soot- or grease-stained gloves, belts of tools, and a collection of prototype devices clipped to her attire.  

Personality

  Nimhra is a smug intellectual, quick to explain why someone is wrong rather than convince them gently. Though socially awkward, she is brilliant, inventive, and passionate about machines, weapons, and protective technology. She enjoys Northern, Kapitolian, and Elven food, and often relaxes with chess, or by tinkering with gadgets late into the night. She also likes ice cold baths.  

• She idolizes Siori Mordos, the professor credited with introducing steampunk and magitech advancements into Asiendal. Everything Siori said or created inspires Nimhra’s work.

• She is weak physically, preferring her turrets and constructs to do the heavy lifting.

• She is blunt, sometimes arrogant, and struggles with reading social cues.

• Beneath her smug exterior, she carries deep scars from her father’s death, a wound that fuels both her inventions and her desire for vengeance against Gordius Laraz and his terrorists.

 

Role & Profession

  Nimhra is a Bastion Artificer — a protector, inventor, and engineer of turrets and shielding technology. Inspired directly by Siori Mordos, she combines ice elf resilience with Asiendalian ingenuity, striving to perfect inventions that guard others with barriers, heal wounds, and strengthen allies.   Her workshop is filled with prototype turrets, reinforced plating, and experimental weaponry, many designed not to kill, but to shield. She dreams of a world where technology keeps innocents safe from demons, bandits, and terrorists alike. But her quest is not purely altruistic. History & Backstory

  Nimhra Kathraen was born and raised in Voenn Ikken, the grand ice elf city of Asiendal. Her family was a mix of proud ice elf heritage and Asiendalian blood — Nimhra herself being one-quarter pureblood Asiendalian. Her childhood was spent in a warm, if modest, household alongside her four siblings. Her grandfather, Duke Norrozh Varros Kathraen, had retired from courtly duties to live peacefully in Voenn Ikken with Nimhra’s grandmother, an ice elf matron who kept the family rooted in tradition.   From a young age, Nimhra displayed a keen sense of justice and a sharp, inquisitive mind. She was known in her neighborhood for her habit of taking apart toys and appliances, only to rebuild them stronger, more efficient, and sometimes with added functionality. Her parents encouraged her inventiveness, especially her father Thomm Kathraen, who became her hero and closest companion.   That happy childhood was shattered the day bandits attacked their district. Thomm fought bravely to protect his family, giving his life so that Nimhra, her siblings, and her mother could escape unharmed. Nimhra watched him fall, and that moment became the single most defining event of her life. She inherited both of her father's signature revolvers - Schutz and Rache.   Though grief-stricken, she turned her pain into determination. She vowed to make sure no one else would have to watch their parent die just to be another statistic in a criminal’s tally. Her hatred for bandits and demons solidified into a lifelong vendetta.   Nimhra grew into a focused, dedicated young woman, studying tirelessly and eventually enrolling in the Voenn Ikken's Shienmag Oruendettan Academy Faculty of Engineering to specialize in magitech and steam engineering. She was particularly inspired by Professor Siori Mordos, whose innovations in steam energy and magitech lit a fire in her heart. Nimhra consumed Siori’s recorded lectures and writings, idolizing her to the point that much of her early work mirrors Siori’s philosophies: technology should protect, not destroy.   During her academy years, she built her first Bastion Turret prototype, a device that projected a low-level barrier capable of absorbing incoming attacks. Her professors noted that Nimhra’s projects were never about offense but about protection, restoration, and reinforcement — she wanted to be the shield that her father could not have that day.   Despite her workaholic tendencies and occasional arrogance, Nimhra longs for a future where she can lay down her tools and live a peaceful life. She dreams of finding a partner who shares her values and starting a family of her own, finally achieving the security she was denied as a child.   Until that day comes, she travels as a field engineer and protector, using her turrets and devices to defend villages, caravans, and travelers from bandit raids and demonic incursions. Though she is kind and compassionate, her mission is unyielding: bring justice to those who destroyed her family and make sure no one else suffers the same fate.
