Mother Earth - Ulmatar (Ulm at ar)

The Creation of Ulmatar

The mythos states that Ulmatar was born from the first mountain of the land, her form carved from stone until she eventually took on her current form. With dark green eyes, an earthy brown complexion, wild unkempt nature-colored hair, and standing at 9 feet 4 inches, she embodies the spirit of the earth itself. In her early days, Ulmatar was alone, unaware of the existence of other gods. She spent countless years traversing the nascent world, leaving indelible marks on the landscape. Valleys of unnatural beauty and ageless, towering mountains still bear witness to her presence.   Ulmatar's early isolation allowed her to connect deeply with the world she roamed. Her movements shaped the terrain, creating natural wonders that would stand for aeons. She learned the rhythms of the earth, the silent whispers of the trees, and the enduring strength of the mountains. This profound connection with the land laid the foundation for her role as the goddess of the earth, with dominion over mountains, valleys, jungles, and plains.

Union with Torgurat

During her travels, Ulmatar encountered Torgurat, who would soon become known to the orc people as Father Sky. Their bond formed quickly over a mutual admiration for each other's abilities and care for those around them. Together, they travelled the world, using their combined powers to shape magnificent landscapes and sites. Their partnership was one of harmony and balance, with Torgurat's tempestuous nature complementing Ulmatar's steadfast presence.   As they journeyed together, they encountered other gods, leading to the formation of the primordial pantheon. This gathering of prime deities worked together to guide and protect the world. Ulmatar and Torgurat grew even closer, eventually joining together in a union that would bring forth many divine children. They also began nurturing a group known as the Proto Elves, teaching them to respect the natural world and live in harmony with its cycles.

The Breaking of the Primordial Pantheon

As a goddess deeply connected to the earth, Ulmatar sensed the first signs of infernal corruption creeping through the northern lands. She raised her concerns with the pantheon, but by then, it was too late. The First Infernal Invasion began, with hordes of demons and devils ravaging the land. Ulmatar fought tirelessly alongside Torgurat, using the natural elements to combat the infernal invaders and protect their world.   The strain of the infernal invasion took its toll on the pantheon, ultimately leading to its collapse. The once-united deities scattered, each seeking their own path. Ulmatar and Torgurat, however, remained together, finding solace in each other's presence. They withdrew to a lush land that would soon become Oggurd Mul, where they could continue to guide their followers and build a new legacy.

Mother of the Orcs

In this new land, Ulmatar and Torgurat created the orcs, blending their essences to forge a race that embodied the best of both their domains. Ulmatar moulded the orcs from the earth, instilling in them a deep respect for the land and its bounties. The orcs were strong and resilient, capable of thriving in diverse environments, from fertile plains to rugged mountains.   Ulmatar's influence on the orcs was profound. She taught them to live in harmony with nature, to take only what they needed, and to respect the cycles of life and death. Her teachings became the foundation of orcish culture, with many rituals and practices reflecting her wisdom and guidance.

Her Role During the Empire

As the orcish empire of Oggurd Mul grew, Ulmatar played a crucial role in guiding its development. She taught the orcs to respect the land, to grow crops sustainably, and to take no more than they needed. Her influence was particularly strong in rural areas and among hunters, who revered her as the provider of the earth's bounty.   Ulmatar's prominence in orcish society grew, and she became one of the most worshipped deities, particularly among those who relied on the land for their livelihood. Her teachings promoted a deep respect for nature and a commitment to living in balance with the world. This respect for the earth helped sustain the orcish empire for many generations, fostering a culture of harmony and sustainability.

The Teaching of Gara

Among Ulmatar's divine children, Gara was the one most akin to her. Ulmatar took special care in guiding Gara, teaching her the responsibilities of her role and how to wield her godly powers. Gara, the goddess of fertility, lust, and marriage, learned from Ulmatar the importance of nurturing life and maintaining balance in the natural world.   Under Ulmatar's guidance, Gara grew into a wise and compassionate deity, embodying the nurturing aspects of her mother's domain. Ulmatar's teachings instilled in Gara a deep sense of responsibility and an understanding of the delicate balance that sustains life. This bond between mother and daughter strengthened the divine influence over orcish society, ensuring that Ulmatar's wisdom would continue to guide her people.

Her Role After the Collapse of the Empire

After the fall of the orcish empire, Ulmatar took a more active role in trying to bring the orcs back onto the right path. She sought to guide them into becoming a united people once again, emphasizing the importance of living in harmony with the land and each other. Despite the challenges, Ulmatar remained committed to her people, striving to restore the values that had once sustained their society.   Ulmatar's efforts were focused on healing the rifts caused by the empire's collapse and encouraging a return to the principles of respect for the earth and sustainable living. She worked tirelessly to rebuild the orcish culture, fostering unity and resilience in the face of adversity. Her enduring presence and unwavering dedication to her people underscored her role as the nurturing mother of the orcs, guiding them through the trials and tribulations of their history.
