Omil
Omil is the third of the Human Automaths who stepped out from the Shimmering Hall and participated in the Awakening on the First Day. Omil is often understood to be shrouded in illusions and shadow, whispering into the ears of the newly Awakened with a mellifluous voice. Followers of Omil understand that, clearly, they were on equal standing with the shining Numenos and stoic Kator, and was a vital third part of the Awakening process, weaving magic directly into the bodies and souls of each of the Awakened as Numenos breathed life into them and Kator managed the operation and used great magical devices.
However, the depiction of Omil in mainstream worship in The Pious Union of the Awakened describes them as a lurker in the shadows, whispering blasphemies in the ears of the Awakened in order to undermine the work of Numenos and Kator, to whom Omil was subservient. Followers of Omil maintain that they were told the secrets of the Automaths and the Awakened, and that all was not as it seemed on the First Day. The exact details of the whispered truths of Omil are a closely guarded secret among their followers.
Omil is considered a Dissident, and worship of them is forbidden throughout The Pious Union of the Awakened. Followers of Omil worship in secret in lands controlled by The Union. The Gnosis Protectorate of Tyrgos is the site of the largest Temple of Omil, and devout are more numerous there. Smaller sects can be found in Erewhon, and cults of Omil operate as a secret resistance in The Verum Imperium. Their name is often invoked as a curse in The Union , with implications of treachery, lies, or subversion. Omil is often associated with Achinos, the smaller of the two Moons, which bristles with gleaming light and shadow and moves in an unpredictable way.
Priests and clerics of Omil revere them for their intellect and mastery over the Arcane, and practice the domains of Knowledge and Arcana. Omil chooses not to answer prayers directly or intervene in the affairs of Yorth; they gifted the Awakened with Knowledge and Secrets, and so followers view it as their solemn duty to Omil to find answers on their own with the gifts they were given by Omil.
