Flyers Division

The Flyers Division of Christmastide Kingdom’s Department of Security ensures all reindeer are protected when they enter the world beyond the Kingdom. If the reader doesn't already know, hundreds of reindeer go out to collect supplies for the Kingdom each year while magic is gone. These reindeer could, at any time, possibly get killed or injured while flying in the mortal world.   These other deer are under the protection of the sleigh pilot elves. Each of these elves have been granted certain precautions by Mother Nature and The Spirit of Christmas to ensure none of these reindeer die. They also have taken the appropriate and proper classes in order to provide superb protection while outside of Santa's Realm.   And for the most part, this division helps to continue serving Santa by ensuring all of his deer come home safely and alive.   But these deer are not "The Nine". These helpers are not of the inner circle of Santa Claus.   Only "The Nine" are allowed special treatment and one of the things they receive are security both in the kingdom and outside of it. And only "The Nine" are allowed to pull Believer-Class Sleighs and some Aurora-Borealis-Class Sleighs.   Because of this, this division and the S-1 Divsion often interact with each other. Especially as it gets closer to Christmas Eve. But that is often the case with the Department of Reindeer Operations and the Department of Sleigh Operations.   Both of the divsions mainly ensure, with other departments and sub-departments included, that the annual gift delivery world-troting journey remains effiicent and safe for Santa Claus.   The group nickname is Holly Squad. The codename is Nine Maids a Milking Division.

Size of Division

This divsion is actually the biggest divsion considering all Reindeer Elves and Sleigh Elves are required to go through security training in order for them to actually work.   Hundreds of people are employed in both departments and the toy workshop which ensures this team of extraordinary people play their own role in safety and protection of Santa's Annual Global Gift-giving Journey.

Training

Each elf undergoes training that involves caring for reindeer, sleigh flight, weather tracking, emergency training with sleigh and reindeer (including weather), surveillance (being watchful), knowledge of all Anti-Christmas Beings and their powers, and several other trainings not known. Most of this training comes from Institute of Merriness Studies but some also comes from the department.

Elves in Uniform

Each elf usually wears a uniform of brown and green on both the pants and shirt. Sometimes, a jacket of the same scheme is seen. But many of these elves wear a blue hat.   While the symbolism should be obvious, I'll explain it. The clothing represents earth and their fur. Blue hats represent the sky where from earth, they fly up into the sky to do their duty to Santa.   No weapons are part of their uniform.

Role of the Reindeer & Sleigh Teams

The team's responsibilities include, but not limited to   Sleigh Inspections and Maintenance - These combine ensure that every sleigh is in pristine condition, no matter if it is a cargo sleigh or any of the Believer-Class Sleighs.   Flight Coordination - The folks in the Flight Control Tower of the Sleigh-port ensure the sleighs avoid bad weather and other dangers or hazards, exxtremely bad airspace, and that elf pilots know the most efficent route to their destination among other things. This includes adapting to stormy weather or other unforseen circumstances especially if made by the Winter Deities who promised not to totally rain out operations in the Kingdom except around Christmas Eve.   Reindeer Training and Health - The elves who catre for the reindeer ensure each is physically fit (peak physical condition) and is well-trained. Particularly on navigation, emergency preparations, and able to do their job anywhere on the planet.

Origins and Purpose

This division was established centuries ago after the formation of Center of Christmas Spirit and Magic City, the second incarnation of Santa's Village. Santa and his family realized that because magic left, they had to get supplies from humans instead of their family who now have gone.   And now, the sleigh pilots would leave from The Very Merry Christmas Sleigh-port and go into the mortal world to gather their supplies. When they would come back, other elves would move the supplies into a warehouse until they would be needed.   Throughout the following centuries, the Kingdom would gather supplies on their own. From humans. After Santa and Mrs. Claus asked humans to help. After farms and companies ensured they would help.

The Nine

While this division does protect the thousands of reindeer in Santa's employ, it mainly is here to protect "The Nine" or The Christmas Sleigh-pullers. These are reindeer who have forever pulled Santa's Sleigh and will probably only retire when their son or daughter are old enough, have enough sleigh experience, and are as impressive as their parents are.

The Nine

Dasher and Dancer   Prancer and Vixen   Comet and Cupid   Donner and Blitzen   Rudolph
Santa's A-Team, better known as "The Nine", are the reindeer who personally are entrusted the task of flying the sleigh on Christmas Eve with the bag of goodies and Santa Claus. They've developed an celebrity status both in and outside of the Kingdom. Even during the year, these reindeer will be the only reindeer allowed to pull any of the Believer-Class Sleighs as well as the Aurora-Borealis Class.   Although he has had other famous reindeer, they have retired. The current working celebrity reindeer is just these nine who continue to pull Santa's Sleigh each year.

Future Endeavors

As this kingdom continues, the future of the Flyers Division remains clear. If magic came back and food was easier, Santa would still need them to work. There would be plenty of work since sleigh pilots and reindeer are always needed in the Kingdom. And more than likely, these reindeer would be better-equipped to do things when or if magic returned.
