Ren Jorik
The owner of Jorik's Rest, a veteran with one good eye left and many scars that tell of many battles. Once thought dead during the Border Wars, he chose to let that rumor stand and retired to Krezko, where he runs a tavern known as "Jorik's Rest" with his adopted daughter, Elara. Ren is known for his cautious and shrewd nature, and while no longer the fighter he once was, he still exhibits a natural leadership that the party quickly comes to respect. His history with the Regiment and connections to the Circle provide the group with both valuable insight and a wary ally.
Despite his cautious nature, Ren is deeply loyal to those he trusts, particularly to his adopted daughter, Elara. He often finds himself torn between his old soldier's instincts and the need to protect his small, makeshift family. This loyalty extends to those who have proven themselves, such as Serg, a former comrade-in-arms, for whom Ren holds deep concern when he is captured by the Witch-Hunters.
Role in Krezko: Ren played a crucial role in the village's underground operations, particularly in the smuggling of goods and information that helped sustain Krezko's isolated population. His tavern, Jorik's Rest, served as both a meeting place and a front for these activities. Ren’s leadership was instrumental in organizing the resistance against the Witch-Hunters, though ultimately, the overwhelming force brought against Krezko led to the village's destruction.
Even in the face of impending doom, Ren maintained a level of composure and strategic thinking that inspired those around him.
Final Days of Krezko: During the final siege of Krezko, Ren's leadership was put to the test as he and the remaining villagers faced the relentless advance of the Regiment. Despite the dire situation, Ren remained focused on protecting his people, particularly his daughter, and on maintaining what little hope they had left. His final acts in Krezko were marked by a grim resolve to make every action count, knowing that the odds were heavily stacked against them .
