Azure
The advent of Airships, and the Machina that power them, has given rise to many vessels for a wide variety of roles, including exploration vessels such as the Azure. Named for the endless skies they were meant to chart, the fast and maneuverable Azure class ships are well suited for exploring the distant shores of the Broken Band, and many other lands beyond. With such a long and storied history in the field of exploration, it's no wonder these ships have become emblematic of groups such as the Skyseekers, as well as many other adventurous souls throughout the world.
Power Generation
Like other airships, the Azur are powered by an Amber-fueled Machina reactor, which supplies power to propulsion, communications, and navigation.
Propulsion
The Azure achieve propulsion through two machina engines mounted in the stern.
Weapons & Armament
Azure class airships are lightly armed with small to mid-sized guns, better suited for fending off small pirate attacks than participating in a direct confrontation.
Armor and defense
Azure class airships are reinforced against adverse weather conditions, though their light armour makes them unsuitable for direct combat. In the event of a confrontation, Azure class ships rely on their speed and manueverability to evade hostile vessels.
Communication Tools & Systems
All Azure class airships are equipped with a system of speaker tubes for internal communications, and a long-range communicator with a range of 100km. In the event that machina-powered communications break down, these ships are also equipped with signal lanterns for manual communication.
Sensors
All Azure class airships are equipped with Amber-powered adjustable floodlights off the port and starboard bow, which aid navigation through low visibility conditions. Additionally, these ships possess a telescope near the bow for spotting distant landmarks.
Additional & auxiliary systems
Ygdrian Compass: Like many airships, all Azure class ships have an in-built Ygdrian compass mounted on the wheel to aid in navigation.
Signal Flare Launcher: All Azure class ships have a flare launcher with five flares, for alerting passing vessels of their position in the event of a wreck.
Hangars & docked vessels
All Azure class airships carry six life rafts capable of carying 5-6 passengers each. Additionally, these ships have a small onboard hanger capable of holding two light Gliders, which are typically used for scouting ahead of the main vessel.
