Machina
Among all of the technologies created within the post-Fracturing world, few have had as wide reaching an effect as Machina. Built to harness the power of Amber for a wide range of uses, Machina has grown since its inception from a curiosity to the backbone of modern civilisation, from civilian ifrastructure to advanced transportation. As the basis of all other advancements created since, from Airships to Automachina, Machina remains an ever-evolving field, and continues to play a vital role in world events into the current era.
Utility
Machina has grown to fill many roles, from weapons of war, to tools of heavy industry, to the backbone of infrastructure for all major cities. It has proven itself especially valuable to both Rootwardens and Skyseekers, who appreciate the extra edge such technology gives them in their field.
Manufacturing
While more specific forms of Machina require particular manufacturing techniques, most are constructed from from individual, seperately manufactured components built around an Amber Core, which supplies the power needed for operation.
Social Impact
Since its development, Machina has had a profound effect on the societies that use it. This technology forms the backbone of many other technologies widely used in the current day, from communications, to infrastructure such as streetlamps and lifts, to the airships that allow for travel across the rifts between landmasses, and, more recently, the automatons known as Automachina.
It's believed that the earliest form of Machina (an Amber powered lamp) was created by a Kaedran artisan by the name of Fotios, whose apprentices would spread the knowledge of its construction further afield.
Machina can be found in a wide variety of forms and roles, ranging from military, industrial, and civilian, with the availability to match.
Machina is fairly complex to build and maintain, due to the specialised construction methods needed to build these Amber-powered machines. Despite this, most Machina is designed to be as straightforward to use as possible.
