Cha Plains

Being so far north, the Cha Plains has mild summers and frigid winters. However, the south edge of the Cha Plains has almost the exact opposite climate, with hot, wet summers and mild, dry winters. Perhaps its proximity to the Typhonic Plains to the south can account for these contrasts.

The Cha Plains is best known for its tea trees, but it actually supports a number of species. There live certain grasses and bushes here whose seeds can only be cracked by a harsh frost, much like many prairie grasses which only sprout after a fire.

There are certain deer and goat species that have evolved to subsist primarily on these trees, and other animals such as tigers, wolves, and many bird species abound.

The Cha Plains is Altairus's largest area of agricultural land. The main crop grown here is the Altairian Tea Tree, or Camellia Sinensis var. Altairus. This particular varietal was cultivated in the Cha Plains some time after it successfully crossed over the portals from Earth. It is even hardier against the cold than the Chinese varietal, and the vastly different climates across the Cha Plains produce a variety of different teas to choose from.

Most tourism occurs in the two towns responsible for processing the tea: Cha Town and Silverneedle Town. The latter is the home of Hatter Co., which brings in a lot of outside attention by offering educational tours around their factories in both towns.
