Celestial Cycle

the Universal Clock

The two solar stars of the Alanspace system are in a binary orbit. The yellow star Uatu, and its sister blue star Juva circle each other in a twelve-hundred-year orbit. This system is known to the people of Aldern as the Celestial Cycle.

Through observing the permanent stars of the constellations, as they align with Juva and Uatu, the cycle has been calculated over the generations and established at a time defining mechanism for recording history, with each cycle from beginning to end being an 'age' of the world. The Draco Constellation - begins each cycle being closest to Uatu. After which, the King's Cup Constellation comes closest at the four-hundred-year mark, followed by the Orion Constellation at the eight-hundred-year mark. The cycle begins again when Uatu, with Aldern, returns to Draco once more.

There is a common belief among the people that major, world altering, events happen at various points along the Celestial Cycles rotation. This is a heavily debated understanding in the historical scholar circles, between the cycle's prediction accuracy group and those that feel their rivals see what they want to see.
