Archfey Patron
the Bargain of the Archfey
Through much of history Warlock were unknown beyond the major continent of Dergonhad. Those warlocks that existed were Dagmon that made packs with the powerful benevolent fairylike creatures, known as Aziza. These beings helped unlock the power of the Anon (Magic) for Human on that continent. In the modern day, archfey warlocks are still the most common type of warlocks on Dergonhad.
Who, when, and why the first Archfey gave their power to humans is lost in the mist of time. As early as the Valmon Age warlocks were advising chieftains and warlords. Though surviving records are few and far between for this period, those that do exists seem to imply that warlocks, as advisors to leaders, was already and established, centuries old tradition. Many of the modern nations of Dergonhad have organized 'religions' around these warlocks and their archfey. For those from the Light Hemisphere, the term 'religion' could easily cause misunderstand. Most of these organizations are centered around philosophies and ideals rather than any pantheon or deity.
A variation of the archfey warlock as appeared over the centuries. These warlocks have found archfey patrons in the Soun'are. Soun'are are far more reluctant to taken on a human as a warlock than their Azaza counterpart. For one, the Dergonhad fairies have been doing it so long, it has become part of their culture. It is almost an expectation. Many Azaza take on a warlock generation after generation. Some only seek those they find worthing of their gift and will pass centuries before taking on a warlock. Soun'are on the other had have largely withdrawn from the world completely. Of the estimated dozen or so remaining, only a handful are known to have any contact with the world outside their Feywilds. These ancient, powerful Elf do not take kindly to outsiders. To earn contact with a Soun'are is a miracle in itself. To convince one to take on a warlock is a near impossible task. And while most fail, some Soun'are backed warlocks do exists, albeit with a long list of guidelines and quests tasked to them by their master.
