Aziza

the Archfey

The Aziza, are said to be benevolent entities from the major continent of Dergonhad. They are depicted as small Dagmon people with butterfly-like wings of gold. Aziza are believed to be related to the Fairy of Ethae, though the history and division of the two is lost, even to their own kind. Like their Ethae counterparts they are shy, eluding contact most of the time. That said, they are considered kind and helpful creatures, known to aid lost hunters and heal sick wanderers in remote locations.

Aziza are far more powerful than their kin across the see as well. They are not bound to any Elder Tree. No elder tree has ever grown on Dergonhad. Rather, they live free across the continent. They are known to favor forest, with some tales claiming they bond with trees similar to another of their seeming genetic kin, the Nymph. Aziza favor the Kapok Tree that is sacred in most dagmon cultures.

Nearly every Aziza take on the role of Archfey at some point in their existance. When they find someone they favor, the Aziza bestows that individuals' ability to use Magic. These Warlock make up the bulk of the magic-using class of the continent. As such, Aziza, though they often remain hidden and unknown, play a significant role in most Dergonhad cultures. Some Aziza have been taken the roles of 'gods' for remote inland tribes, who's warlocks act as priests for the community. Even when not revered as gods, these beings are seen as divine and wise beyond the world.

Note: A mystery the Jenuwan Order have yet to understand is that the Shroud is in full effect on Dergonhad, continent wide. The Aziza seem to have the ability to will it into and out of existence around then of their own accord. The shroud cannot be broken on Dergonhad, the Aziza decide when they will be seen and heard. This seems to apply to Ethae fairies as well, should they journey to Dergonhad. Considering the nature of fairy and their connection with their elder trees, however, it is unlikely fairies will journey to Dergonhad in any significant numbers.
