May 2025 Rewrite Challenge

  Sharpen thy quills and warm up the edit button: this May the worldbuilding community invites you to polish past glories rather than chase fresh word-count. From May 1st to May 31st 2025 we’ll be rewriting and refining existing articles, proving that even cherished lore can shine a little brighter.  

How to take part

Choose your articles: Anything already published before April 30th 2025 counts.   Make it better: Re-organise headings, rewrite text, add pronunciations, art, side-bars, adventure seeds - whatever “better” means for the piece.   Log your rewrites: (optional) At the bottom of each article add the line: "Rewritten for May-be 2025 (Copper/Silver/Gold attempt)" or something like that.   Submit: post links or blocklinks to the article(s) at the bottom of this page (comments section) before june 1st.   Talk about it: if you send notifications, add these tags: #MaybeBetter #UnofficialChallenge   For 1, 3, or 5+ rewritten articles you earn a copper, silver, or gold badge:

Great idea for a challenge. The city of Zalgurim is my only "rewrite" this month, so I'm just aiming for the copper badge. Other story telling I am working on in Magicians' End has brought me back to this city, which was once the capital of the Old Pale Empire. May was a good time to spruce it up a bit, flesh out its existing skeleton history with a more detailed city specific timeline and give it a bit more art work as well...
