The King’s Lodge
For travellers seeking fine accommodations, The King’s Lodge offers an unparalleled level of service and comfort near the docks. This inn is located on the eastern edge of Greydove Quay, bordering the more affluent Kingsmarket district, and has a reputation as a luxurious escape from the outside world.
Aerith Durand
When the half-elf Aerith Durand inherited the King’s Lodge from her father 14 years ago, it was in complete disrepair. Today, it is considered one of the most successful inns of its size in all of Valoria.
The Lodge’s success is largely thanks to Aerith’s ability to intuit the desires of her clientele. She will openly discuss nearly any topic at length, following up complex requests with telepathic questions within the asker’s mind.
Parlor and Private Lounge
The King’s Lodge’s parlor features polished wood surfaces with gold inlays and a near spotless marble floor. The bar’s prices — more than double those of any nearby taphouse — do much to keep the riffraff away.
In addition to its ground-level seating, the Lodge maintains private balcony seating for wealthier clientele. From this perch, those willing to pay for the privilege may enjoy their meals while looking down upon other guests — a metaphor many embrace.
Lodgings
Luxury rooms at the King’s Lodge are available on an hourly, nightly or weekly basis for those who have the coin. Arrangements can also be made for special guests who wish to extend their stay for a month or more.
The King’s Lodge also offers steam baths and massages in its adjacent bathhouse. Rosewater, mint, or spiced tobacco hookah is also available on request.
Menu
Dishes and libations at the King’s Lodge are curated based on Aerith Durand’s personal philosophy - “Every plate a memory, every glass a dream fulfilled.” One would be hard-pressed to find a more exquisite meal in Greydove Quay or, indeed, in the entirety of Orthay.
