The Shouting Sail

The Shouting Sail was a three-masted transport barge until 40 years ago, when it crashed into the northern end of the docks. The Sail exists today as a popular taproom amongst the workers of Greydove Quay.

The Captain

The Sail’s publican, “Captain” Gage Abrem is a middle-aged man with a large scar on the side of his head, a trophy earned while hunting pirates. Anyone would be hard-pressed to recall a time Abrem didn’t have a sword strapped to his hip, or the skill to use it when ejecting rowdy patrons.

Ever happy to share stories, bounties, or advice to any who seek it, he is also a skilled Three-Dragon Ante player. In his own words, the Captain enjoys showing off his “many varied and remarkable talents.”

The Crew

The Shouting Sail employs a dozen or so “crew” to help tend to its thirsty guests. Two notable crewmen oversee The Shouting Sail alongside their captain:

  • Brizira Hillstepper is a halfling shaman with flowing black locks. She weaves flowers and leaves into her braided hair and sea shells on her wrists and ankles that jangle while she works. Her main tasks are procuring food for the tavern and brewing its famously caustic ale.
  • Teleasian is a spindly, well-dressed half-elf and master of wearing many hats, both figuratively and literally. They are primarily employed for their musical ability, especially with the fiddle and the concertina. They also spend busy periods tending the bar.

Lodgings

Although The Shouting Sail is filthy and dimly lit, its lawless reputation has made it a favourite amongst smugglers and other ne’er-do-wells. It also offers accomodation to the poorest of travellers, consisting of communal hammocks in what was once the aft of the ship.

Menu

Food and drink in The Shouting Sail is plentiful, if of sub-par quality. What it lacks in sophistication, it makes up for in affordability and convenience.

  • Breakfast is served from before daylight until an hour or two after sunrise each morning.
  • Dinner is less structured than breakfast. Generally, people can request whatever breakfast items are left in the morning, or whatever else is on offer from the kitchen later in the day.
  • Work Meals (4sp) are pre-packed meals offered to-go for workers and travellers. They contain a selection of dried fruit, salted venison, dark rye bread and a small waterskin containing a pint of house ale.
