Maglubiya

Maglubiya is the country of the goblins. A place of rigid law and hierarchy, of strict religious practice, and of war. Maglubiya is ruled by goblinoids, primarily Hobgoblins, and humans, often Movir. Founded by a hobgoblin given visions and blessings by their chief god, Maglubiyet, and conquered by legions of goblinoids, races whose gods have been conquered by Maglubiyet. Movir, who often value strength and martial prowess, sometimes join goblins and will give up their natural impious nature to serve the Goblin god of conquest. Maglubiya is constantly at war with its neighbors, excepting the Confederacy of Emperors, whose power their leaders know would crush them. Their biggest enemy is the Aaronii Empire to the West, which is constantly fighting them over land disputes. The war industry of Maglubiya is very rich, and it is the center for the invention of weapons. Maglubiya is actually where the firearm was invented. The government strictly forbids the worship of non-goblinoid gods among citizens, believing that they need their god's favor to continue to win in battle. Goblins make up the highest population, and almost entirely make up the lowest caste of society. It is uncommon but not rare for goblins to be found in higher castes. Bugbears are often middle-class workers and soldiers, making use of their brute strength and size. Bugbears will often become the bosses of businesses by bullying their goblinkin. Hobgoblins make up the upper-middle and noble castes. Their intelligence and leadership skills make them excellent generals and rulers, and their cunning makes them excellent merchants.

Culture

Maglubiyan culture revolves around strength, conquest, power, and religion. Piety to their gods is topmost on every Maglubiyans' agendas. There is a very strong emphasis in Maglubyian culture to keep the gears of the war-machine turning. Their core beliefs are that those in power should be listened to, and those who replace them are more worthy of it. The weak deserve nothing. The strong get to rule. Moving into and out of castes is nearly impossible because the skill and strength of a person determine their caste. The exception is moving into and out of the slave, soldier, and religious castes. Maglubiyans very much appreciate shows of strength, and so holidays are almost always devoted to sports and tests of might.

Public Agenda

The veneration of their gods, the conquering of land, and subjugation of enemies.

Assets

Maglubiya has no shortage of soldiers and workers, and their powerful spellcasters almost eliminate entirely logistics of armies relating to food and water. However, very little food is farmed so a lack of clerics often means mass famine. The goblin empire makes huge profits off of selling its technology to other countries and relies on trade with Moviris and the Confederacy for ore and food. Every city is very heavily fortified, and many or more like forts than cities. They have a moderate navy for battle on lake Orlais. Their army is a force to be reconned with however.
